Hi,

I fly a Raptor 30 V2 right now , i am a noive just learnt to fly figure 8 s and nose in and thinking of upgrading to a bigger Heli mostly to Titan 50. My question to experts out there is :

Does Titan 50 handles much better than 30 V2 or its just waste of money to upgrade to a 50 at this time? I am just flying around no 3D or aerobatics yet.

I have Futaba S9001 servos, GY 401 gyro and high speed servo that goes with it on my 30V2 can i use these electronics on Titan 50? I read lot of bad things about OS 50 Hyper motor, like difficult to tune, reversing etc. are they true?

Please advise.

Where on earth did you read that? I think you might be confusing the Hyper with anoTTher engine that I will noTT menTTion.

You will notice a difference between your 30 and a Hyper-powered Raptor. I'll leave some space here for somebody else to chime in...

If you cant tune a hyper to run decent its time to hang up the skates.

nah, they're easy to tune. The biggest upgrade you can do is change to some nice servos. Something digital will make a better flying machine. Try Futaba's 9252. Good servo! Just get 3 for cyclic and pitch. You'll probably be able to fly it with your current servos, but you're asking a lot of them.

zsultan,
First off, I'll begin to tell you that I don't consider myself "an expert" but I do feel as though I'm qualified to answer your questions.....

I would stick with what you have until you get the hang of flying and progress to an intermediate level. I would be the first to tell a "newbie" in the market for a first heli to go for the 50 but since you already have a nice helicopter capable of WAY more than you could currently do, common sense tells me that it would be a waste of your money....

The 50 is not going to "handle much better" than what you already have. Better ?? Maybe a little better in the wind since it is a little bigger with longer blades but the difference is not significant. The biggest difference you will see between the two is the fact that the 50 has a lot more power than the 30 counterpart.....

Finally, I agree with Barracuda's statement..... please go re-read his post....Additionally, I would not change anything you currently have. Don't make the mistake of going out and buying a bunch of expensive stuff you really don't need and instead, burn as much fuel as you can and try to progress..... make the determination that you are going to stick with the hobby for the long haul and then upgrade your equipment as your skills improve...

Good luck...

I'm with Juan on this also..BTW The 9001 servo's are just fine in the 30-50 Raptor..I've thrashed mine to the edge of it's life hundreds of times. They may not be cutting edge digi's but are certainly up to the task for most folk.

IMO, the 50 gives you a lot more power to recover from mistakes made during flying (can also give you more mower to smnack the ground :rolleyes I converted my 30 to a 50 a while back about the stage your in. Made it easier to transition into 3D. The crashes will cost you just about the same thing minus the blades. IMO I would go 50.
