I hear all the bad news about the FUTABA 9254 failures. What is a good alternative to this tail servo for the GY401's ?? This servo runs .06sec @ 47oz. What are you guys using?

There is nothing wrong with the 9254 I use them in all my scalers and I've never had a problem with them.

I have also never had a problem with the 9254. I guess you could get one to fail if you didn't have a smooth linkage, or you used an excessively high gain. ... or hang it from a boom and let it fill up with oil. But no servo is going to tolerate abuse for long.

I use 9245's too without any problems

I have read that some are using Hitec HS6965's on the tail with good results, but never tried it myself.

Here is one thread I found:

Ive had one 9254 fail and broke another. Both times ive replaced them with 9256's which are still going strong..

The 9256's have almost the same specs as the previous (gy601) model, but with more torque.

TRIS, is there a MOD that enables the 9256 to work with a 401

I have had 3 9254's fail, and they have been swapped out with HS6965HB's, and so far so good.

Hmm, well the 9256 works just fine with the old GY601, exactly like the 9254 (which works with the Gy401) so i thought it would work

Never tried though so you may know more than me....

I am also using the Hitec 6965 on the tail with my 401. I have had two 9254's fail on me. Only have four tanks using the 6965 (just got it Monday) but so far so good.

I've had 2 9254's fail on me. I replaced with a 6965 and have had no problem after 15 gallons.
