I've been hangin on to my old stereo for some unknown reason. I never play the cassett deck or reel to reel.I listen to music thru my surround sound now and use cd's. Is there a market somewhere I can find people interesed in this stuff? Some of it is pretty sweet, Phase Liniear amp and pre amp (210 watts/ch), Akai reel to reel, Teck cassett, dbx noise reduction unit, Technics FM tuner, Bose 901's, I gotta turntable but not given that up for nothing (even thou they don't put out albums anymore),,,,

Just in case you decide to collect instead of discard, I've got a Dokorder 7140 reel-to-reel and a Pioneer Centrex stereo I'll sell you cheap.

I have a Sony AM/FM tuner dating to somewhere in the mid to late 60s that I recently tried to sell on e-bay. The bids were next to nothing. There just ain't much of a market for this kind of stuff right now. Maybe in a few more years.

And who said they don't put out albums anymore? If you want them, there are lots of albums being produced. Good stuff too....

Try http://www.musicdirect.com http://www.acousticsounds.com http://www.vinylvault.com to name a few. Then dust off that old table and start spinning, or better yet, get yourself a new rig. The cartridge suspension is probably pooched after sitting so long in your old table...

View those sites at your own risk though... they can be tough on the wallet. You have been warned...

Hey!........I'd be willing to trade a basket case Gas Alpha and a mostly flyable Carbon Mystar 60 for the lot....especially those Bose 901's!.......Some of the best speakers made in my opinion!

i was out side last summer and my neighbor..... hes older feller... anyways he was throwing something in the dumpster. i asked him what it was and hesaid it was an AM radio... that was it. just an AM radio from the late 80's but he said it worked. so just for fun i stuck it on ebay and had people fight for it from $.99 all the way up to $38.00. for a stupid AM radio. so id say say stick the crap on ebay... just make sure you know how to sell and list stuff in a way that people will find it. if my fiance had listed the same radio on ebay it probly wouldnt even have sold.

You would be surprised at what people would want. The Phase Linear amp and pre, and a vintage DBX unit would probably get some audio guys excited.

The reel and the cassette are not. I threw away a perfectly good Otari MX5050 2 track reel to reel due to no one wanting them anymore.

Put it on Fleabay and see what happens.

NICE!!! This thread reminded me to look up and old stereo my dad gave me years ago. HOLY CR@P! A similiar one went for about $900 on EBAY! Sweeeet!! Can you say - Aurora???

Anywho - it's some kind of old McIntosh tube 300W receiver. I always suspected that it might be worth something. Still works perfectly too.

Oh, you poor poor man. But, I do have to admit they were better than the fecal matter they put out now. You would be shocked at what a little ole pair of Magnepan MMG's would do, and for a measely $550 too!

Vintage stereo gear is alive and well and selling for top dollar, if it's good stuff. Vinyl is awesome and will blow most cd's away if you have a decent setup. Lots of great stuff out there now, vinyl is making a comeback.

Yep, nothing like a set of planar speakers for beautiful mids. Integrating a sub to them is tough though...

You are absolutely right about the vinyl having it all over digital. I'll put up with the odd click every now & then for it. Sure do love the convenience of CD's however. Maybe I need to hire an album flipper...
