Hi Scott,
I'm sure Gary @ TPacks would be able to recamend a ESC to use, not sure what Amps that your setup will pull, Gary should know.
as for the BEC I've be useing the Align on all my larger Heli's with a seperate rec. pack, I like the switch, volt meter and bec combo. the've been working great, have them on a Logo-10, converted E Raptor and the T Rex 600

Not sure really, but if any cutoff occurs, I'd prefer a soft cutoff over a hard cutoff any day

Casey's running fixed throttle settings so the cutoff is working but a little FYI. If you use ANY of the heli specific modes on the CC speed controls the whole brake program gets turned off automaticly.

GAHH!!! Someone call 911!! My wallet is bleading heli parts!!

V=IR.(voltage=current*resistance) if you increase the voltage, the amperage goes down for a constant resistance. if you run a lower voltage, you are going to be pulling more amperage
This is completely WRONG !!!!. IF you increase voltage with a constant resistance amperage goes UP. V=IxR I=V/R.

The point of using higher voltage is to get the same WATTAGE with a lower CURRENT DRAW. i.e.using a lower KV motor with a higher voltage battery pack.

P=ExI.
So to get 2000w out of a 6s pack you need to draw 90 amps (roughly), to get 2000w out of a 10s pack you only need to draw 54 amps.
Try using the same motor on 6s as you do on 10s (with the same gearing) the 10s setup with draw alot more current.

Please do your own reshearch before going along with what the "so called" experts on here think is correct. They could very well direct you in the wrong direction.

@blackkat98
Settings same as Casey! Except I use high gov with a 60% flatline. This gives me a 1850HS.

well guys,i couldnt resist,i already mounted my 85 HV on my Trex 600,the programing was relatively easy,i got prety much the same setings as Casey exept i did select the cut out at 18v,im still flying only 5 to 6 minutes to be safe,but we'll see just how great this really is,

i can tell right of hand that this is gonna be way better than the align one,but i have yet to try it,im just waiting for a good day to do it,the weather here is prety bad right now and doesnt look to get better soon so i have to wait

ah yes one more question and i think it is a good one,when is a good time to hit idle up?cause just last week i striped a gear cause i fliped the switch just before i got to half stick,i thought the esc had some kind of a soft start or delay of some kind,

meaning that no mater how fast you moved the throtle stick to full throtle it would spool up gradually so you wouldnt strip gears like i did,well i guess im alright for now since i had another gear,same thing for trotle hold
what if you wer in throtle hold and desided to abort but youre in the idle up position,im thinking this will definetly strip the gear right?

any ideas to prevent this?

for the 600,
if you spool up to atleast 75% throttle at half stick, you will be OK to click to idle up without stripping a gear

0/30/75/90/100 or
0/30/70/85/100

Another way to do it would be to take off in normal mode and hit full punch (100% throttle) then click to idle up. Thats what I do when I am flying at my home dirt field, to get it off the dirt/carpet as quickly as possible without being at 100% throttle and throwing dust everywhere. Be sure not to forget idle up when doing so however! (first time I Did this, I Forgot idle up, also while somone was talking to me)

right on Casey,i prety much figured it had to be done somewhere in the 75 to 100 range i just thought there was a way to avoid the striping with out having to go that far into the throtle,

i cant remember but i think align has the safty feature where even if you went full throtle real quick the heli would spool up slowly,this was a safety feature in case you bumped the stick by accident so you wouldnt hurt your self and at the same time save the heli from any damage,i cant remember what they called it but thats a great feature,
thats a real life saver IMO

OK, just got mine and WOW!!!! This thing is huge! Where/how are you guys mounting these things? I had mine up front on the bottom with the battery on the angled spot above it but the battery rubbed on the inside of the canopy....that's trouble waiting to happen...don't like that setup. I guess I can velcro it to the side of the frame. Any pics/pointers???

i had the same problem with mine Bro,give me a moment,ill post pictures of mine in alitle bit,i have to switch computers caus this one is too old and dont have the card reader to download the pics,
i mounted mine right under the motor,

on the frame next to the front skidd,it works great for me,youll see and im sure youll like it,the only problem is if you break the landing gear but i dont think it will be that easy to do,most crashes end up on the helis side,unless you have a real hard landing but i doubt it

Cool...I'm interested to see the pics. What connectors did you use on the motor wires??? The wires on this ESC are huge and I don't see any way to get them soldered into the ones I got off the stock Align ESC. I did finally manage to get the connector on the battery end of it though!
