Friends,

My raptor is all setup. Well so far... When I go to run it up I can not get the tail to hold steady. I have a raptor 50 with a 401 Gyro and a 9C super radio. If I put it in head hold or non head hold it wants to spin from one side to the other and I cant seem to hold it steady. Could I have a setting set too high or could it be my new tail rotor blade is too big. ( it is only larger by a tad )

Thanks!

Does the tail turn rapidly or is it "wagging", because you might have the gyro backwards.

I'm thinking too much gain in the gyro.

If it is piroing either left or right, the gyro is reversed. If it is wagging left and right, then the gain maybe to high. Try lowering the gain.

Be sure that your REVO mix is inhibited, too.

What are your limits? Is there any binding? Make sure that when you pick up the heli and turn the nose to the left that the gyro compensates buy pulling the tail rotor blades LEADING edge toward the boom. If not then The DIR switch on the gyro needs to be switcheds. Also when you give right rudder input make sure that the LEADING edge of the tail blades go toward the boom. If not then go into your radio and reverse rudder

Tail won't hold steady
Friends,

Thank you for your advice. I do not know what I would do without this site. :-)

Gyro direction is set correctly. I think what th problem might be. ( will find out tomorrow, night here ) I have not adjusted my tail servo yet. I eyeballed it but did not adjust the servo rod while heli is running. I figure it is a tad off.

Thanks and will let you all know.

I had the same problem ... and here is the way I fixed mine ...

check to insure that you have the additioanl channel for sensitivity for the gyro turned on .... Check your radio

I will guess and say that no matter how you turn your bird on the gyro light blinks all the time .... ??? If so the above should fix it ...

If it spins you will break it !

If this is a new heli with a new engine then you will have to wait until the engine is run in a bit before getting the gyro setup correctly.

Any missfiring or burbling from the engine will cause the tail to kick.

You can get it sought of alright but it will show any irregularity in the running of the engine.

If things don't change... they'll stay as they are!
