I didn't convict,
Just observed. I observed gassers for a bit before before I made my decision of going in the direction I picked. Ya know, it can tick a guy off though, what could he have possibly done to make it fall apart in the third flight. He wanted me to put something on the internet as he is not a computer guy and doesn't do internet stuff as he puts it. His interest is growing for the internet because of the research that can be done. I will pass the phone numbers to him and I am sure he will be thankful for the advise.

Chopper,
You don't have to appologize for stating the facts as you know them........

This is a open forum to discuss issues such as this (an others) whenever they come up.....so don't be discouraged by the "pom pom queens" ....

Hey
No pom poms or rosey colored glasses here. Just trying to get him in touch with the Company and the issue sorted.
There was a production lot of swashes with a problem in kits over a year ago.
This was fixed in the distributed kits from that day forward and replacements promptly offered to those with kits from that lot. It was posted on Centurys site for some time.

As gassers have been sold out for some time this may have been a new kit but may have been some older stock from a person or shop. Possibly from that vintage. Unknown at this point.

The customer should be able to get this sorted out with Century on Monday

Remember you are going to get responses from reps here mostly on runryder not Century employees (especially on weekends) so we can only do what we can for product support. We are not authorized to take care of customer support issues directly (we are not employees in any way) but always try to help comunicate issues to the company to aid in response times.

This has been communicated and they will be ready for your call Monday. Hope he gets in the air quickly

Good Luck calling Century, When I called about my swash plate I was basically told it's my fault vibrations cause it to fail, go buy another one and try again. So much for Century.

JuanRodriguez why don't you go play in your own kindergarten, instead of fooling round here?
Get a life..... instead of using all of your energy bashing Century!
What's in it for you? Is it so much fun to you, that you can't help doing so?

I've never had any issues when dealing with Century what so ever!!!

Breit,
First of all, thank you for sharing your thoughts here on RR..... That's what an "open forum" is all about. I'm also glad you have never had a problem with Century..... Neither have I .... simply because I have never owned one nor am I planning to own one in the forseeable future....

Secondly, did I mention that this is an open forum where anyone/everyone is entitled to their opinions ?? Yea, I guess I mentioned that already....

What I do have a problem with is a small handfull of individuals who feel as though they have to continually boast about how great Century is and swear up and down that Century is free from having any problem...in other words, "perfect"....You and I know that is not true. Whenever someone posts something to the contrary based on their personal experience, the pom pom waivers always seem to come out of the woodwork and want to sweep the problems under the rug as if they never existed....I see this tendency mostly with Century products...

Yes, I do enjoy playing in your kindergarten and will continue to do so.

You guys that insist on carrying on with your boasting, should learn how to grow your skin a little thicker..... BTW, we are talking about toys here.... please don't loose track of that fact...

Juan, I happen to be a Century Supporter. However, I by no means think they have infallable products. In fact, I've had more than one crash due to a part or assembly failure. However, based upon the research I've done (on the Internet, and by talking to people), Century products are no worse than anyone elses and the consensus I've been able to obtain where I am is that the Century products are superior in some ways. Now I do have to state that I can't personally vouch for this as I can't afford to purchase a half dozen 50 size helis and put them together for a comparison. The only comparison is I have is when my swash separate on my Trex.

However, I have been happy with the way my Helis fly. The majority of early crashes were entirely due to myself (as would be expected). I could write a book on the problems that I've had that aren't related to the Heli (engines, servoes, receivers, antennas, gyros - I think that covers just about everything else).

In the cases where I've contact Century with my problems, I have had responses from them. Not always within the same day and it may take longer than I'd like but they do in fact get back to me and help to resolve my issues. I've dealt with both "Red" and "Antonio".

And this IS an open forum. And anybody can play in any of the sandboxes. Part of the goal here is to be able to communicate and help resolve others problems (and yes sometimes to "just have fun". Finally I'll add that you are right, this is not life and death and people need to remember that - if you don't like comments from someone, ignore them.

Right now it is below freezing, snowing and blowing so I'm not flying anything (well I may SIM later). Hope your area is better and you can fly cause regardless of what you have, that's what this is about.

Got Money? Send it to me, I'm a Heli Addict.

Juan, what heli's do you fly?

As for being able to give your opinion on a Century product given the above admission. It would be like me stating that the gear shift on a Farrari is a bit notchy or your taste in films is crap, I've never driven a Farrari nor do I know what you watch.

What gives????

Juan> The fact that you have never owned a Century heli, but never the less still bashes Century and their products, is exactly what "pisses me off"!
I really can't understand what's in in for you???
Why do you talk so negative about things that you have no personal experience with? How fair is that?
Offcourse you are right to have your opinion whatever it may be. But still, it "pisses me off" when people bash something based upon something that "they have heard". The case would be much different if it was stated from their personal experience!

By the way I've never come across anyone here who have stated that the Century heli's are "perfect", all brands have their issues.
But what I see, is that there are some who loves to bash Century at every occation, no matter what! Often the bashers have never owned a Century product!!

By the way, where I'm currently located (Limassol, Cyprus, where I'm stationed for 3 months, taking part in the UNIFIL mission), the climate is very nice. Around 30 deg. Celcius in the daytime, 18 deg. at night and the water temp around 23 deg.

I haven't got my helis with me, nor my G3 sim so I'v got nothing to fly with. Instead I'm using my time reparing electronics on the Danish patrolboats who are part of the UNIFIL mission, and my limitted sparetime is used to go diving. So there....

UNIFIL= United Nations Interim Forces In Lebanon

I'll rest my case, just needed to vent.........

I've already stated my opinion..... please re-read my post above...
Juan, what heli's do you fly?
I have owned and flown Hirobos, Kyoshos, Xcells, Bergens and most recently, QWW and Raptors... helicopters in the high end of the spectrum to the lower end....

My "rant" is not about bashing Century.... I really don't think I have done that at all. I'm sure they have a very nice product....

It is about folks continually trying to make it seem as though they are the best thing going since sliced bread and secondly, trying to convince everyone that Century's customer service is beyond reproach.... from what I've seen from an "observers" point of view is that neither is true.... all heli manufacturers have their problems and there are very few mfgs. that can claim 100 % customer satisfaction.... If the pom pom waivers can just accept that fact and move on, we would not be having this discussion.

What I have routinely seen with the Century line is that if someone has a problem, many times they get treated like sh*t (see crazyjoe's post)when they call to report the problem. Then it takes going to a public forum like this so that one of the field reps or "supporters" can intervene to get the problem resolved..... That, my friend, SHOULD not happen....

Please also re-read BC Don's comments..... he seems like a straight up fellow with his head screwed on straight.... unlike a very few of the others I would not care to mention at this time....

I hope that you understand what I am trying to convey but if not, please feel free to ask additional questions here or via PM.... I'll be glad to respond...

Breit,
Please read my last post, aimed at answering some of silvashadow's questions.....

I don't believe I'm bashing Century at all.... nowhere do you see me say that their products are "cr*p". They are probably some very fine helis comparable to others...This is not about having anything "in it for me"...I don't necessarily have to own a Century heli to form an opinion based on other's experiences..... they are still valid as the day is long.

BTW, where I'm located the weather turned to sh*it about three weeks ago so there has been no flying in these parts either... currently, the wind is blowing at about 25 MPH gusting to about 50.....

Juan

I have spent the last hour or so reviewing your posts. It seems you are Wasp's negative shadow.

You seem to follow most of his posts with your "pom pom" remarks/attitude.

I have looked for posts from people that I consider "pom-pom" ers for other brands and have not seen you hound them as you do Wasp. Consequently, may I suggest that if, for whatever reason, you have something against Wasp, that you take it up with him privately and keep it off this public forum.

I too can find Wasp's Century enthusiasm a bit tedious at most times, I must say that I also find your dogging of him even more so.

So please take it up privately with him and stop submitting the rest of us to the discomfort of it all.

And please Jim, try to refrain yourself a little.

'nuff said!

""I don't necessarily have to own a Century heli to form an opinion based on other's experiences..... they are still valid as the day is long""

gee Juan, that's just how I feel about a few other brands !! but do I go on those other brand pages and instigate "NOT",,

Juan, as for Century's service,, you really need to look around at the other brands, their no better !!,, I personally know of 2 guys that quit rep'ing for 2 of the big 4 brands, why~ because of their "care,,less" attitude and the way they handle parts failure and heli design problems (and keep in mind these brands cost more than Century's helis) !!

I also remember of a thread (not to long ago) on another top brand's heli page whereby a guy had a plastic swash fail on a new heli, and did that brand replace the swash "NO", they tricked the guy into buying an upgraded metal swash for the price difference, is that fixing the problem "NO, it's NOT", gee, do you think that company lost a penny in that deal ??,,, NO !!

the way I see it~ a pilot can be a lot worse off than buying Century, buy a Raven 50, give it a chance and fly it for 2 years, when you find you don't have tracking problems, or wooff problems or clutch problems, gear hub problems, sloppy washout or your tail rotor flying off, you will then understand that you have been better off for those 2 years !!

Oh, and I have owned 4 other brands of helis, and I was screw on 3 of them !!

as for me,, if you don't like my pom poming~ well that's great , just give me the word and I will put you on my ignore list,,, have a nice evening ..
