I use .020 SS safety wire available at WagAero and similar full scale suppliers. $10 will get you a life-time supply.

I built the power supply featured here:

Works great!

Trey,
you know now that you started this, you need to post pictures of what your making.

Oh, if you don't have an airport near by, speed shops sell the safety wire too.

Trey3670 I have attached a photo of a very easy bow to construct. The main part is Maple cabinet facing material 38" long. The extensions are 3/16 music wire, Dril the wood at a 15 degree angle away from center,( this will allow for spring action), Get some 3/16" wheel collars and put them 1/4 in from the end of the wire. This will be the stop for the Nichrome wire. String thewire and tighten the bow springing the 3/16 music wire. The wire will always stay tight by the automatic spring action of the music wire. Make the music wire about 12 inches long to allow for deeper cuts. Use a light dimmer switch for a transformer, about 15 volts or a 12 volt car battery but fuse it, Cut away. Let me know if you have questions. We have used this many years for turtle decks and pattern wings.

Yep, we use the same safety wire on race cars as airplanes.

You really don't need a dimmer for the 12 volt battery just a switch to turn it on and off. The Dimmer is if you are using a 110 electrical source.
