Just wondering. Everything I read online says it is the best thing since glow plugs. For me, It seems to have screwed up my models more than anything else. I may love it after I get all my models re-tweaked, but out of the box I just don't like it.

Well since I'm new to G3 and have only flown for a short period of time I can say that I'm looking forward to the updates. From what I've read the physics seem to be more realistic which is what a newbie like myself is after.

I'm sure when you get your models re tweaked all will be well.

Its a beta, even on their own message board it clearly states that not even the heli's and planes from the addons will necessary fly good in it because of the change of physics.

I know it is only a beta, but even the included models don't fly the way I would have liked. I changed the paddle weight on the dominion and the avant from ex2. That did help for full rates. Now I just need to detune the cyclic's on center. Seems to be slower full rates across the board. I notice it with planes and helicopters. Most all are overly touchy on center, and dead at full stick. The orientation training chopper is way too touchy for my likes. I like hi rates and all, just not right at center stick.

You need to set some expo, I run my own radio, so I cant help you how to do it in the program though.

That will take the edge off the center but keep the roll/flip rate.

it definately messed with the tails on the helis i used, primarily the aurora. it now rebounds when stopping from piros. it also made it really sluggish, but lightening up the paddles def helped that. the changes to the tail are annoying bc its nothing like real life. i use a 611 gyro and it stops perfectly regardless of what i do, with no rebound and has never once blown out or given the indication of being close to blowing out. doing fast funnels and backwards hurricanes pushes the tail to the limits in the sim, but in real life its not a problem at all with a 611. hopefully that will change with the full version.

Where does it mention these changes in the physics, the list of additions and highlights of the 3.5 update doesn't mention anything about any general physics changes.Or even any physics changes

To me the Dominion doesn't appear to fly much differently. But i did notice the hover instabilities during the hover training part of the new 3.5.Especially the one where you hover above another arrow. It seems to be quite stable when your heli's arrow is well away from the instructor heli arrow and gets very artificially more unstable as you hover directly over it.

If any of their past beta updates are anything to go by ,they usually end up as the finished final version. Then the fixes are done in the NEXT update.Aren't they already selling the 3.5 as a retail boxed product?

They have several boards just for 3.5.

For sample, read this thread.

G3 rocks! But there will always be some complainers. Dudes its alot smoother on less powerful systems and the real difference for me is online! And the night flying! how could you not like it. It could be alot worse, like in 1988

I'm looking at the issues you're mentioning with the Aurora. Thanks.

I agree about the models being different.
I have one version which is Dominion based in which the blades go out of track & the heli shakes! This was fine in G3. All my helis fee different, but I haven’t had much time on it yet to start fixing them. The stock Dominion 90 works ok though.

The other problem is the anti aliasing when Night flying. The light bands look really jagged & I can’t get rid of this and it spoils the effect somewhat. I had a custom profile setup in the NVIDIA driver for Realflight which had anti aliasing maxed out & now it just doesn’t work. I have set it back to auto and it’s a little better but still jagged.

I really like the Midair crashes though!

out of the box I just don't like it.
and that's why it can be "tweaked" till your heart is content...or not..then again there's Reflex for those that hate G3...good thing there are other options out there.

main thing to remenber is that it's the BETA version...with more "tweaking" pending

I know more tweaking is possible, and I also know that in previous updates, the final version did not seem to change very much(if at all) from the beta. So all I'm going to do is tweak one or two more models.
No sence getting them all the way I want if the final version will require doing it all over again anyway.

I never liked Reflex much. For me it is a toss up between g3.5 and Pheonix. I think they are both a step above everyone else at this point. And each has some things I like better about it over the other. My main gripe was just having to reset all of my favorite models. I'd rather spend that time doing something else. They have done alot of good things with 3.5 The camera pans more like the one in Pheonix. That I do like. I still think the photo fields in Pheonix are much more realistic though.

now I'm wondering since we can "load" any version...such as going back to 3.0...would all the "tweaking" remain with each version?

seems that it should have a "saved tweaked" file for each plane AND for each version.

I can not belive they just announced the G3.5 beta as the finale release.
G3 was getting close to the real deal, but G3.5 is a giant leap backwards.

The new features is very nice and fun, but I have already gone back to G3 due to better physics.

Hopefully, sooner rather than later, we will get G3 physics in a G3.5 package!
