There are four paintjobs they walk through under "How-to". Use very light coats like they suggest and heat set every coat. You dont need to bake it - just get the area slightly warm and keep air moving over it.

120ml is a lot of paint - depending on the colors and coverage you should get easily 2 canopies out of it.

Auto-air has a rough texture when dry - is that what you are referring to? If so, this forms the bond on subsequent coats. The clearcoat fills this in so you dont have anything to worry about.

Or are you talking about how its spraying out?

I would say yes, because the other layer of paint might not bond well. Just spray another coat of the base coat sealer and dont sand.

yeah must remember when fading dark and light colours you have to do it lightly and subtly. what design are you going to go for?

Looking good .. Tip tho, try and not touch the canopy's at all with your bare hands from when you de-grease them until there clear coated. The auto-air is so porous, its so easy to get it contaminated so i end up using loads of latex gloves.....

Now this is a really good guide for auto-air...

http://www.autoaircolors.com/Auto%2...uide%202006.pdf

But its interesting how they recommend using 4004 (transparent clear) on top of the base in order to "allow tape to better adhere to Auto AirColors. The mid-coat creates a less-textured surface upon which masking material, fine-line tape and low-tack tape can better
lay down without lifting"

Sounds just what the doctor ordered

When you clear the raptor canopy, all the fade overspray will stand out like a sore thumb. Best thing you can do is use base paint you can sand between coats. I use Siken's base coat clear coat paints and sand everthing between color changes except on some colors like fades.
I apply 5 coats on all colors and 5 coats of thinned clear for the final finish. I just finnished painting my New Vibe canopy, and from the trimed to fit canopy to finished job added 1.5 oz of weight, including 2 coats of catlized white primer. canopy weighs 7.5 oz finished.DOUG

Tris, what kind of flames? True fire, regular, tribal? You need to do another step-by-step thread when you get to that one.
