HEY GUYS I DID NOT SEE THIS COVERED ANYWHERE SO I THOUGHT I COULD ASK. I TOOK A SPILL THIS WEEK AND I JUST FINISHED REBUILDING MY SE AND I WAS THINKING OF USING THE NEW GEAR RATIO TO GET SOME ADDED POWER. I HAVE A HATORI PIPE WITH THE OS HYPER MOTOR 611 GYRO AND A GV-1 GOVERNOR. IF I STICK WITH THE SE SIZE TAILBOOM WITH 600MM RADIX MAINS AND 92MM RADIX TAILS WILL THIS GEAR RATIO BE PRODUCTIVE FOR ME OR DO I HAVE TO GET THE EXTENDED TAIL AND 620MM BLADES. ALSO I WOULD HATE TO HAVE TO USE THE TAILBOOM SERVO MOUNT I REALLY HATE THE TAIL SERVO BEING BACK THERE GETTING SOAKED WITH FUEL AND EXPOSED LIKE THAT. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME GOOD INPUT I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE MORE POWER ON MY 50

Caps lock off please.
If you're using 600s, then stick to 8.5. If you're using 620s, then 8.73 is perfect and keeps the engine in song.

There has been loads of discussions regarding this, SEARCH is your friend..

Because there has been so many Arguments, sorry discussions regarding both the practical and theoretical issues both of which have uncovered some very different results..

I am also curious,, curious enough that i have purchased the new gear set and fitted it,, so i can see for myself..

Guess I'm a little like YUG,, 'just can't help myself'

As soon as the 25mph winds and rain stop, i will test and tell..

Colin..

Colsy, I can understand not flying in the rain, but you should consider 25 gusting 30 normal operating conditions....LOL

Scotty, as the previous threads mention many opinions! I think everyone has to make their own judgement. 3 gears available for 3 different kinds of flying....Happy flying

My $.02
I just installed the new 11/96 gear set last week - best money I've spent on my Raptor 50 V2 so far. I'm using SAB 600mm blades and an OS50 SXH motor with a governed head speed at 1850. without changing anything other than the gear ratio the power was greatly increased and it ran smoother and much quieter as well. However, I lost a minute of flight time due to increased motor rpm but I think it's well worth it for the performance increase. I may play with the head speed a bit more this weekend but I'm very happy with how it performs now.

SCOTTYCIGAR,

TT makes a longer tail servo push rod that is compatable with the longer boom. That way you don't have to place the servo mount on the tail and expose the servo to all the elements. I did this to my 50SE and basically its a titan now with the new main gear and longer boom.

The new 96/11 8.72 ratio on a V2 or SE must really kick some *$%# at sea level because at high altitude it made a big difference on my 50 SE with SAB 600's. Needs become wants as wants become needs! MORE POWER!!!!

Thanks for the input guys i appreciate it. i think i am going to do the gear change and leave the rest alone. I hope its not a waist of time but any other people with input in just changing the gear ratio and not the boom and blades let me know your experiences. My raptor 50 seems to be a little more dead in the collective then i would like it to be. running 11 degrees pitch and 6 cyclic
