I just watched this vedio from RCHover. That's really horrible how the LiPo explode. Anyone knows how they make it explode like that? Is it possible to happen in regular use? Just want to hear any opinion toward the LiPo batteries. Thanks!

Josh

Overcharging most likely. Lipos can be quite dangerous if you don't charge them right. If you are careful and charge/balance them correctly, you don't really need to worry.

they actually dont "explode" as in sending parts all over the area...that said...most fires are due to pilot/charger error.

very good reading here

common sense and safety are two words that you should embrace with this hobby.

Best of luck!

Great! I will read through that and hope it doesn't happen on me
I guess if I just stick with the 1C charge rate Align 3CX everything should be fine right? Unless the charger fails or a not good battery...

hope or wishful thinking is not a substitute for preparedness.

Yes, you SHOULD be fine. But you can't guarantee it

I charge my LiPos on the garage floor, its an integrated garage and there's other stuff in there like a car (full size) and 10 helis. I also leave them unattended on the basis the risk of things going wrong is pretty low if I'm limiting the charge rate and charge going into the cell, and use cell balancers. I'm possibly taking quite a big risk tho.

DrLodge...you can use a cement block to place lipo in to contain any potential fire...cheapest insurance.

agreed. Dr., you should really 'contain' the Lipo in some form.

Concrete block is a great idea. Combine that with my battery bunker I bought, and I should be ok if a lipo ever goes supernova on me.
