i currently have a raptor 30v2 with an 0s.32,carbon mav 550mm blades w/ gy401/9253 gyro,jr nes4721 servos all around.im going to be currently building an AH-64a apache from approach engineering when my order comes in early nov.it says to ultimatly fly this bird with good power behind it to use any 46-50 size engine.

so my question is will any 46-50 size engine fit into a raptor 30v2?

any suggestions, tips,or web sights would be helpfull.thanks to all that will help

A Toki 40 will fit in the R30, I have heard it will swing 600mm blades and do mild aerobatics, in the pod and boom form. Hope that helps you.

The easiest way to get more power is install an OS37 – it has more power and is a direct replacement. There is nothing like OS quality and reliability so that’s what I would recommend.

To install a 46/50 you need a new engine mount, fan, gears, and muffler.

If you're buying a new motor, then for the extra money you are as well getting a 50 Hyper and running the stock V2/50 TT muffler and 30 gearing... this will be fine but use a little more fuel.

so with putting in an os50 hyper, do i need a bigger engine mount?can i then put 600mm blades on it if the kit that im building will alow it?or just stick with the 550mm.this is the first tiem that im going to try and build any kind of kit and trying to upgrade/better my heli.
colsy you mentioned to keep the tt muffler and keep the stock 30 gears.wouldnt this possibly burn up the gears with as much power that the 50 will have?....thanks all for helping me out. its really appreciated alot.just dont want to do something that im going to regret and would rather get advise from all the veterans in here

From Starwood Models:
This AH-64A model has been designed to fit 30 size glow and electric mechanics with a rotorspan of 51" [130cm] but due to its overall light weight, can accept smaller mechanics. As a general recommendation the fuselage will fit 30 size mechanics but modelers should really consider using the 46~50 size engine when building the model for general scale flying.
It looks like they recommend the use of a 50 size engine for general flying. If the max rotorspan is 51" that would limit you to 550's, as they will give you a rotorspan of 49", and the 600's are 52.95".

You will need a 50 engine mount to run a 50 motor. The gears can handle the power, but there will be a difference in performance. I am not the "Gear Ratio Guru", so mabey someone can explain how it will affect RPM/HS....etc

I hope that helps

Jay

Of coarse I know how to fly this thing, but if you see me running try to keep up!!
