Weekend Weather
Hi guys ,
Here Is the latest weather for the coming day's .Hope this helps .
Today and tomorrow look settled but more rain is on the way this weekend as an area of low pressure is predicted to form in the Tasman Sea and cross the North Island, weather watch.co.nz reports.

Head weather analyst Philip Duncan says computer models still aren't quite agreeing on exactly how much rain will fall and where but at this stage the low is expected to affect many regions from Friday to Monday - especially for north facing and western regions. "The low looks likely to develop during Friday and edge towards New Zealand on Saturday. Some high air pressure over northern New Zealand will keep the low from moving through too quickly and that pressure gradient between the low and the high may also create some strong winds for some areas".

The forecast is still fairly vague but it appears at this stage the low will cross over the North Island during Sunday and Monday with the main rain band moving through on Saturday. "Because of it's slow nature this may cause some concern for properties along the Waikato River, however at this stage it's simply too early to know if the rain will be heavy or long lasting".

At 8am on Wednesday the Weather Watch Centre says it's confidence for rain across Auckland and Waikato is about 60%. "That means rain looks likely but it's not high enough to say if the rain will be heavy and significant".

Do you want to post a news letter saying the event is still going ahead this weekend.

We have a back up plan involving indoor drift karting & some indoor flying if we get rained out. Saturday i think we will be OK but sunday at this stage looks like a wash out??? but who knows.

So the event is STILL ON FOR THE WEEKEND hope to see you all here.

You certain??
I've just checked the Met service site for Rotorua:

Friday Mostly fine, Northwesterly developing

Saturday Clouds increasing, late rain, Northerlies strengthing

Sunday Rain to showers, Gale Northerlies easing

Since we all know that scale machines really love flying in good, strong winds (not)- I'm kinda wondering if we actually need to bother bringing any?

If I come up- I'll be sure to pack a couple good books. I've seen the rain fall on the Rotorua field in the past, it was nice- but I'll decide tomorrow if I'm that desperate to see it again, with a 6 hour drive both ways.

Not looking good :-(
The verdict from some of the Wellington group.

The desert road has been on and off all week, the weather looks like it's closing in (big low coming over). Four of us from Welly have made the sad decision not to try and venture north :-(

Days off are hard, but to fly can be justifiable, to sit and watch the rain not a good idea. I'd love to be there and catch up, go karting etc... but I'd rather be in the sun flying :-) I'm kinda with George on this with the 6 hours each way and 2 days for the south island boys.

I think the south Island boys will leave it for another weekend with some sun.

Wayne, you know the local weather better, and how often the metservice are on the ball. Are you sure you don't want to wait a month or so for some better weather and a few others are back in the country?

Sorry Wayne :-( We really wanted to be there.

Bad luck guys. looks like mother nature may have frigged you with the fickle finger of fate.

If i was there I probably wouldn't venture north either if all i was going to have to do was watch porn and beat you all at go cart racing even though it sounds like a lot of fun. It's an expensive drive and stay so I couldn't blame anyone for being cautious about going with the way our weather has been this winter. (esp the south island guys who regularly display such devotion to the hobby by spending the most money travelling to get to heli events.

Once upon a time when you didn't have to take out a mortgage everytime you wanted to fill your car it would have been a matter of just getting in the car and going.

Hope the north island guys that go get some flying in.
good luck.

The lat 3D event in Hamilton was looking bad three days out and it turned out to be perfect weather, a little windy on the Sunday but otherwise pretty good.

I would rather go to Rotorua and see some rain than go to Wellington and get robbed LOL.

I am still at the shop putting the rest of my night gear on the 600E so it had better be on, I should be doing my GSt return so Aunty Helen can buy herself an election and a badger

Doom and Gloom, Gloom and Doom what ever way you look at it its a weekend away, Nothing better than a road trip when the road closes and you can't get to work and have to take and extra couple of days off work. Pack your snow board and stop at the mountain on your way home, have a nice big serving of harden the hell up and you will be fine.

Sorry to say the Nelson crew has pulled the pin on this one will try another event up there soon. Its 2 days trek up and 2 days back so you kinda want to make sure your going to get some flying in and the ferry trip doesn’t excite me very much. If I wanted just a weekend away Id fly up. So that’s cool, I think you might get some flying in on Sat, I really hope so for those who go.

I've been putting this off till after this event so now after 10 years of flying I'm gonna do it "Mode change" from mode 1 to 2 so now officially I cant even fly a heli. now that sucks

Guys making the decision not to go will be a sure thing to turn on great weather for the rest, so to those still going make the most of it and enjoy.

I am currently having a week off and trying to get this TR700 built. Unfortunately during the day it all go with the kids and at night it is so friggin cold in my workshop that even with an oil heater I only lasted about one hour tonight before I scurried back inside to watch the Olympics. Consequently it is looking unlikely that I will meet my aim of finishing it this week., but sh*t its winter anyway and as long as I get it flying for my 6 week break over Xmas who cares.
