Hows that new Goblin 500 of yours going ?? are you running the Savox 4050 - 1300kv motor in it ? how warm does your motor get after a flight. Bring it to Rotorua so we can do some drag racing

I am running mine at 2750 rpm and fly for 6 mins on a 4100mah 30c pack leaving 20% in the battery. The motor gets pretty hot but goes well.

That seems pretty good considering the size of the Gobbler. Must be a weapon running 2750!Ian | 7HV ULT | Rave Ballistic FSO | Warp 360 | DX9

Goblin down (parts not in stock)- broken struts and tail link rod - Tail blew out while flying in a hurricane - belt kept stretching as I had to tighten it after every 2 flights - lost orientation was too low any how.
6 flights I did have on it - I started to really enjoy it!
I run a bigger motor Savox BSM4750 1200KV - motor is cool in temp after 5 mins hard core 3D 4400mAH 65C

I would say it has the wrong gearing ?? because the watts are pretty low if this is a hard 3d flight and the esc temp is twice what i get out of the goblin.Mongoose

It looks like you need to run a bigger pinion (or a higher kV motor) to run your chosen headspeed. You can see that the motor spends most of the flight at 100% (the light blue line) which is not what you want. It means that the motor is having to run wide open to try and maintain your headspeed with your current gearing - if it is at 100% for most of the flight it almost certainly means your headspeed will be lower than programmed for a good portion of your flight. Infact you can see this in the brown/maroon line - it's pretty jagged which means your headspeed is not consistent You need to provide some headroom in the gearing. This will enable the motor to better maintain your headspeed. Ideally you'll see spikes where the motor hits 100%, but not big plateaus like in this graph.
The other option is to reduce your headspeed, but it looks to be about 2100ish so you probably don't want to run much lower than that with Phil and Pete biting at your heels .
ESC temps look pretty awesome to me (given it's in degrees F). This should give you some comfort that you can afford to gear it up a bit (or change the motor for a higher kV example) and it won't stress the speedy out.

Cheers Keith, thanks for the explanation - Peter and Phil have already surpass me - I need to catch up!

Had a crash today - 7HV decided It didn't feel like pulling up from the ground when giving stick input ..... bottom frames and blades broke - will check the shafts - I have the parts, can't be Arsed really wrenching - will spend tomorrow piecing it back - I will use the 14SG and try my hand at setting it up etc

OK, repaired heli - got 1 flight in before it got dark!

Is this the same battery as the last graph as the voltage seems to have taken a bit of dive ?? ripple looks very good. What are the specs for the motor i would expect to see the peak watts a bit higher but i guess this will also depend on the type of flying you did.

Dont go crashing this week you need helis for next weekend you might end up flying the warp 360

Hey can i try your goblim motor in my goblin to compare it to the 4050-1300I flew it today with the 5500 -65c batts and flew for 7 mins.

I now have 15 flight on mine and not needed to adjust the belt tension at all are you sure you have the 4 bolts at the rear tight enough ?? to stop the gearbox sliding forward, it seems a little strange to re tension it after every 2 flights. You can crank them up pretty tight.

Motor output looks better in this graph. The lower headspeed with your current gear ratio gives the motor some breathing room.
I still reckon you should go bigger on the pinion though. You've got a few watts to play with yet.
Looks like the hurricane you did in later part of this flight worked out better than on the 5 hundy.

Yes have ordered me a 15T pinion for the 7HV - Just waiting on the Warp360 combo kits so it can all be sent at the same time from Compass.
This 14SG is doing my head in just reading the manual lol
