Anyone in Auckland this weekend looking for something different to do should check this out. Me and Phil will be doing a couple demo flights during the lunchtime break:-)
I got a few tickets from the organizer and the deal is 2 for the price of one, if anyone interested in going.

wow every sunday. what about saterday?? and when they are not shooting what a waste of time. why pay 120 a year to only be able to go when the range isnt being used? There is no point in that when shoters get more range time.

Some of us have families, children, friends, work, etc so most people do this on a Saturday. I think there were people flying out there Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday during the day of this week alone. There is nothing from stopping people from going out on a Saturday but if you have no friends then it could be a bit lonely so your right, maybe the club is not for you.

I mean lets be honest, paying a $120 is HUGE money when all you get is nationwide public damage insurance, a 1km flight line to fly most days and definitely any evening, help and support and friendship from experienced club heli fliers, competitions to enter nationwide, and funflys that happen throughout New Zealand which you can attend.

Good luck with that Goblin setup.......

The chances of flying with other people is a lot higher at a club than your local park, plus the chances of dogs and kids is a whole lot less at the club.

It is risky stuff if you fly in parks, at the very least you should have a spotter looking out for people and dogs, if you have an accident and injure someone it could be a very expensive lesson.

I’m sure if you get to know guys in the club then you can always call them the day before and organise a group to go out flying for the day.

$120.00 is cheap, if you can’t afford $2.30 a week then RC Helicopters are probably not the best hobby to get into.

Some great guys in Wellington club, would be good cheap at twice the price to hang out with them, the things you will learn could be worth four times what it cost to join. Learning the hard way form mistakes is expensive, learning form other peoples mistakes is a much better idea.

Plus you get to see David Bettany smash up some expensive gear lol

Also where is that video you posted re the park you fly in? I would like to confirm with the WCC that it is an approved park as it would probably the only one in the region. If it is an approved area then I can let some of our Wellington based club members its exists.

Me and Paul, didn't see Dave crash anything on Tuesday, he was a perfect flyer !!! but then I suppose we couldn't see anything from our vantage point lying flat on the ground face down under the club hut !!

Galkor: in the last 2 weeks with the good weather, i have gone through 3 1/2 gallons of fuel, and lets not put a monetary value on the amount I've spend on spares !. And as the National sheep shag--err-herding champion says, if you get more involved with the helli guys and not antagonise them, you'd soon find out we fly most every evening, sans most weekends, barring weather and shooting. Hey we were just talking that the past winter we flew more weekends that we can remember in living memory. Most if not all of us also fly gliders and planks.

So I suggest you maybe get your facts right before firing full broadsides !!! We/They are actually a great bunch of guy's with a wealth of knowledge, and some of them might know a few things about helli's as-well !!

I think you club guys got the wrong side of the stick. I was just saying it would be cool to come fly with you guys but every time i get a chance to come out there is shooting or no one is out there when iam wanting to go. SO please chill guys and don't take things the wrong way.
Happy flying

Hey Galkor,

Welcome to the NZ thread on RR. There is a wealth of knowledge here sometimes you just have to sift through the banter to get to it

You should take the opportunity to come to the Wellington Annual FunFly. A whole bunch of people from around make the trip down for a great weekend of fun, catching up, talking crap, eating good food and sometimes we even fly helis!
If you are interested you can register here. Damn cheap for one heck of a weekend!

Geeze Footie, thats a bit harsh

I've not had a decent crash in over a year, and I don't count the fooling around with a tiny 450 mid air in Whangarie last Oct as a crash.

Rayman has been in more than I've had beer this year (even if he claims mechanical probs ) and Phil would be a close 2nd

As for the drivel about not being able to fly. Crock of moo doo

I flew in Rotorua on Sat, Sun was at the Tauranga club and their brilliant new field, and most of Tues at the Wgtn field. Far too much vitamin D ingested
