I still dont understand I'm sorry. If one cell wont lift above 3.80V because it has a fault how does the charger recognise this and stop it from charging the other cell to 4.60V ?? The charger doesnt see individual cell voltages only an overall amount between the 2.
The charger sees the voltage of the two cells that are tied together. Because the cells are tied they physically cannot be a different voltage. What would happen it the charger would charge from the charge leads and the charge would go straight back down the balance leads as since one cell will not rise above 3.8V the other will not as well.
This is where the problems with high current charging come into effect as alchemist describes.
If you pull apart some LiPo's you will see that they normally have cells wired in series to get your 3s 6s etc. Many, however, have cells wired in parallel to increase the capcity (as seen here)
http://tiny url.com/2enyqd6. The 2S2P means there are four lipo cells in the pack, two sets of two parallel cells in series. Some of the packs you have now might even be charging in parallel without you knowing

You're onto it Ian. Will you be coming to the DUHSD?

Naa I'm not going to DUHSD, not because I don't want to but because it's bad timing for me and low on funds

6HV mechanics done. Part setup the BX, then it's just soldering some wires.

Was going to fly my heli after work today but then ended up going
motocross riding. Should have done the RC thing instead as my bike decided to land on me and hurt me rib. Now I hope it does not effect my
breathing for bicycle racing Thursday night.

What have I learnt from this.
I have to many hobbies and they all seam to need devices that cost
lots of money.
Get one bro, only 2 in stock - go nice with your nitro version.
I may have to wait for the end of the year before I can get a Ballistic
and then I can join team jonzey.

Jonzey, are you going to keep the Rave ENV.
you may need to as It seams like all 90 electrics
at some stage have smoke coming out of
the ESC. Even my old 700E did it after 20flights.
Lets hope your new E-heli does not try to do the smokey thing.

I didn't bother with the 7Hv - just sprayed the belt with silicon.

That's what I thought cheers.

Going to try and solder the electronics tonight, might have it ready for the weekend. You'd think my kid could have waiting to get sick until after the build

Hi Guys,

Got a few things sitting here and I need the money more than the items.

Hyperion DS20xSMD Servos x2
Hyperion DS20xGCD Tail Servo
Futaba R6008HS Receiver
Futaba R6106HF Receiver
Also a bunch of flybarred specific parts from my Atom 500 and 6HV but not sure if anyone is left with those things on anymore...

Let me know if there is anything you are after before it goes up on TradeMe and I can bring it along to the DUHSD.

6HV build and ready.

Few finishing touches and finish programming the BX but other than that it's done.

Quite a nice easy build especially with it being flybarless.

One thing you don't really get until you have one is how squat and long it is proportionally. My old 600N would have towered over it.

Once it's all setup I'm going to look forward to beating on it.
