That and the 850km winds make for a great field selection (ex Wellingtonian)

NSMAC was good the last time I flew out there. The chaps I used to fly with have mostly moved away or don't fly much.

What's Kumeu like these days?

A lot of people have moved on but there's still a few regulars and most are pretty good to deal with. I can't get out to fly nearly as much as I'd like too and have been spending a bit more time flying on base too because that is even closer than Kumeu - but it is mainly planes.

I'm not sure if I will be able to make the Nats this year, I'm double booked on the Saturday, I am supposed to be just over 800km North on the 7th so not sure how I am going to work it unless the helis get pushed earlier in the week.Life is like a bath, the longer you stay in it the more wrinkled you get.

Yeap Ray, it's back together and today was the test flight.

Typical, got to the field and 1 flight when the rain started. It was on and off so got a couple more in before giving up!!! Where the F*&%k is summer???

I've now got a bit of head wobble so will have to try figure that out. Increasing the head speed helped but I think it's not going to be that simple. Kasama's are so adjustable it could be any number of things so will have to start with the obvious and work from there.

Anyone ever had to repair a stripped thread (properly)?? I just had to do it for one of the swash drive arm holes M3 on the head. It would have been cheaper to buy a new head by the time I had finished but unfortunately Kevin doesn't have them in stock and I couldn't wait any longer to get her in the air.

I had to buy a "recoil"? kit, brilliant idea but what a ripoff!!! $130.00!!!! and it only does M3.

On the subject of Auck flying fields: I fly mostly at Kumeu, but have been going to North Shore on and off.

I really like Kumeu as it is basically on the Main road, so even if it is wet you can just park on the side of the road and carry your stuff about 10metres. Also, there are no F*&*#N trees to hit!! but their are low fences that can cause problems if you like coming in low and fast:-) A bunch of guys left a few years ago (cant really be arsed getting into the politics of that) expect to say I have heard both sides and agree with both sides:-) but there is still a group of great guys there and it can be packed in the weekends. Suppose the reason I go to North Shore is it is also a good field (except did I mention the FN trees) and I have got to know some great guys there as well. And another plus about North Shore is there seems to be more variety with more different newer brands etc. I went out a couple of weekends ago and it was PACKED with Heli guys, plus if your into Planks your at the right place.

Not sure about the flying hours at North Shore. Kumeu is 10am-6pm 365days. Just make sure you don't go over 6pm, you will be visited by one unhinged, crazy, nut job neighbour that seems to have decided to stop taking his medication!!!! I might be in trouble if I say any more so don't ask!!

Chrs and happy flying.

Heli field politics - those were the days...

Mostly I used to listen and LOL.

Managed to get out in the wind and drizzle. Man the mcpx brushless takes a beating. I can still get the tail to blow but that was probably a combination of the wind and lack of collective management on the piro tick tocks ahahah.

I'm surprised Kevin isn't stocking the brushless kits for it. Well worth doing.
