Sure, turn up and fly.

This is truly just a FF though I think G2 is going to have a scale comp too. Wayne and G2 will chime in I'm sure...

What do you need to know about Rotorua?

Do you know where it is? Need a map?

Start time will be anytime after 9:00am

Landing fee probably $5-10 I expect a BBQ or someting for lunch

Probably some drag racing and lots of flying.

I think I might just find my way there. :-)

I wanted to get an idea what the activities were to see if I should drive from AKL or not. You're half way there being in Hamilton (City of the future!). You'll be there in a flash in your new car?

I should get the new car on Friday, they just need to fit the tow bar and stuff tomorrow

Rototrua will be good, there will be plenty to do there.

If you have a look back a few pages G2 and a few guys are staying at some motel, I can't remeber what it was called but they might jump in and put up a phone number or something.

Hi Guys

Some info for Rotorua.

Call in sick on Friday 23rd & come down & fly on the friday afternoon otherwise turn up on Saturday early & stake your claim to a peice of grass for the weekend before it gets so busy & we have no pit area left & will be forced to send you away after taking your landing fee of coarse. Pilots breifing at 10am just to welcome people & explain the format for the weekend nothing to formal i will keep it short so you can enjoy more flying. Basically get your models scrutineered this has become a yearly free wof for your heli we are known for it now & have saved a few helis from being grabbed my mother earth then pay the $10 landing fee & go fly. If you have a scale model you may wish to enter the scale event & this will have a completely seperate flight line away from the 3d r's so you can fly allday aswell. PLease if you can let me know by PM we can get some idea of numbers for the scale cheers.
THere will be a BBQ provided at lunch time & free tee & coffee all weekend but feel free to make a donation towards the coffee if you want too.

Location

Basically from Auckland head towards the Rotorua airport at the Tawarewa roundabout follow signs to blue & green lakes about 1/2 km past the green lake on your RHS you will see a gravel road there will be a sign out follow your nose you cant miss it, If you do & get to the buried village turnaround you have 1 km to far. NIght flying is awesome & can be done if anyone is interested after dinner. Dinner will be in town & organised nearer the time. I will let you know the shcedule for the scale comp. later.

Hey dave
did your tail blades nip the ground when you flicked into idle up on the ground? (bit too much negative pitch?) it doesn't take much to break those gears, especially if the tail blades are tight in the grips
other then that maybe a small rock or something got blown up into the gears off the ground, that has happened to me before.

3.5 weeks to go to Coffs!! Jonny, you ready for night flying?? Looks like there will be at least 10 others doing so as well! Plus a couple interested in making their own night blades like yours.

Kev & Jason, you guys will be pleased to know Dr. John got me a 6HV to fang around. I maidened it last weekend & love it! The power is insane. Build thread here; https://rc.runryder.com/t582810p1/

I'm bringing it to Coffs for sure!

Nice one Kevin,

I built up a 6HV for myself, only done a few flights on it, sure is no shortage of power.

I will bring the 6HV with me to Coff's, I will try and get it set up for Jonny to fly.

I am not a big YS fan but HOLY $hit check out the new YS:

Not that many pilots in NZ need any more power than the current 90's but wow - that is impressive...Tim Jones just hammers that thing and NO bogging...

Ready for Rotorua this weekend???!!!
Hi guys- sorry to interrupt the talk about those smokey engines- but is everyone ready for the weekend???

As always, the Rotorua guys are welcoming all of the heli boys to their great field. A beautiful large field, great club house and cooking facilities- and even better local folks there to help look after us- a combination you can't beat.

As Wayne, our host has said, a $10 landing fee is the small cost to fly for the weekend. And show up on Friday- because us early birds will be there! The lunches on Sat and Sunday are always pleasing- so have some gold coins ready for that.

Plus- ALL Scale helis are invited to come along! The field is plenty large enough for us to have huge chunk of space to ourselves, as usual.
If we get sufficient numbers, I have the competition forms ready to go- and I'm sure we can have a bit of fun!

If you go back a page or two in the posts- you can find the directions to the field, as supplied by Wayne.

The Wgtn folks will be well represented with a good number of folks heading up- and I believe that part of the field will be temporarily assigned to the Wellington club. I think that means there will be a large amount of hot air present.......

With no Icelandic ash to get in your way- you gotta be there!

See ya in a few days

G2
