Down Under Heli Smack Down 2010
Hamilton's weather rocked this weekend. No wind, heaps of sun and 50-something pilots giving it everything... oh yeah... some Aussies were here too.
We had five "flightlines" working including a hovering / wings-badge test area.
Night flying last night with a full moon in the background. It was dark... unlike the photos that hide this factor with the full moon.

A few shots here. More in the gallery here... http://www.pbase.com/ascend_photogr...rumble&page=all

Awesome event thanks to everyone who helped it all go ahead! Sure was enough crashes to last most people for the rest of the season
Hope the drag racing was awesome as always!

An extra thanks to Martin for trying to sort out this pesky OS50.

Thanks for comming guys, it was a lot of fun everything worked out pretty bloody good apart from one uninvited Wanka that turned up on Sunday.

Special thanks to Neil Harker for sorting out the catering, and Aunty for all of his help with setting up and selling the raffle tickets nad to Wayne the safety officer not that we had many safety issues.
Oh and Alton for mowing the extra flight lines (come and see me with your parts list ALton we will work out a good deal)
There are plenty of others that helped out doing different things and taking photos etc so thanks to everybody.

If any of you guys have some good photos send them in and we can make up a DVD and send them out.

If anyone is keen on going to Coffs Harbour in May let me know, we will organise a mini van and accomodation etc. I'm sure we can take the Smack NZ style accross the ditch

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone out there had a 2nd hand tuned muffler for an OS .50 hyper?
Having some tuning troubles and have been told a tuned pipe, a new ring and a good carb clean may be of benefit.

Thanks
Andrew

How old are the Bearings Andrew? Those are the first thing to check on a Hyper IMO.

yes, plus try a new plug.
I am having good results with the OS 7 plug which is slightly hotter that the No 8 plug.

The bearings are about 1 1/2 years old. Martin had a listen and there is one bad ball in the rear bearing (nothing major but you hear it scrape) so I will probably replace them too.

We also replaced all fuel+clunk lines with new tubing and a new Enya #3 plug. Got it tuned very nicely then it cut out mid flight...

Well, what a great end to a good week in NZ. Kevin from Hobby Hanger was kind enoough to show us some of the tourist things to do around NZ. Man it was full of non stop action, I come of lightly with just a grazed knee, Caleb is a bit more sore but one thing we are all sore from was side splitting laughter. Once again a big thanks to Kevin for donating your time to spend with us Aussie's. Will booking tickets for next year for sure.

Hi guys

Just a reminder that the Wellington funfly is just over a week away so can you please let us know if you are coming.
We need to know for catering etc.

Bring your newly learnt 3D skills up or down to Wellington and have a blast with a great bunch of guys from all around the country.

The indoor is booked, plus note the field is open all of Friday, Saturday and Sunday for flying.

We have nearly 30 pilots attending so once again is going to be a great turnout.
I'll try and book the good weather now........

Register or info at http://www.helifliers.co.nz

Kelvinator........ you got somewhere to stay??
Mr Platt........ are you coming ?? Get a ride down with Kelvinator!!!
Jag.....you staying with David B ??
