2 tanks thru the Vibe50 today out at NSMC. Just a light hover with it running V rich. Just warm to touch after landing. Will start to lean it up a bit next time, and increase the rpm some. Thanks for the fuel Jason.

Anybody going out to NS this weekend?

I want to go out Sunday, I was thinking about going to Hamilton and I don't wanna sound snobby but I can't fly there cause I don't have my wings yet. Might give Hamilton a miss and get some air time in at NSMAC this weekend (sunday)

I found the perfect spot for (out of the way) practice after work. there is an unused lot of land the other side of the road where i work and its fricking huge, also there is a road right upto the edge.

also its completely deserted after 5pm so perfect for a bit of do not disturb me flying.

Nice one Jack. Bring your heli, Neil H might be able to do your Wings for you whilst there. You are about ready for it IMHO.

I will practice the required manoeuvrings on Saturday to see if I am ready, the weekend after you saw me fly I was pretty much doing full fledged figure eights (full turns) and small nose in hovers.

If you think I would be able to take my wings on this then I'm more than happy to give it a try.

Question - Got some slop in my 600n swash plate, quite a bit in fact now it is one of the first 3d extreme blah blah ones with the writing on, but still have the plastic washout.

Since I've started back flying again i'm having real issues keeping the thing rolling/flipping straight (It ain't my fingers cos the Atom is fine) it requires quite a bit of correction to keep things in order.

Wondering whether i'd see an improvement upgrading to the latest swash and washout

nah your just a $hit pilot Ian. (joke dude) Sorry I am a bit drunk as I crashed the freya today....EFATO and $hit auto.
Now I am transplanting the gear into the Knight....probably a bad idea I'd imagine in the present state.
Also putting the eagle tree logger in the 700N. The freya is stripped. Blades, boom, tail V blades, boom supports, flybar, paddles, carbon tail horizontal and vertical fin, tail shaft are fuc'd....everything else ok. Bugger. Was an engine failure at about 20 feet on full pitch so blades slowed instantly on failure and I screwed it up...almost got it down but lost rotor RPM before touchdown as it was quite a bit away from me and was struggling from the get go. Personally I don't think I got the pitch down far enough soon enough. $250 would fix it but I don't think I will. I have a five day stay in LA on the next roster even though I didn't want one so I may take the bits up there to sell.

Nut out

yep but my fault and not the OS. It was old fuel...I thought I could run it out. Hasn't been going since AKL. I put new fuel in the main tank but couldn't suck the header out so I was lazy amd thought I had run it long enough to get the stale and discoloured fuel out of the header but obviously not. IT was telling me it wasn't happy but I was in a dirty mood and didn't care....result....fuc'd heli.

Thats got to rip your undies Glenn, I was looking forward to seeing it do some speed passes at the field and scaring the sh*t out of the old fellas. Let me know when you got the knight going, I got to sell the 600, times are getting tough. We've had know new work come in for over a month, so need to get some funds built up incase I lose my job. Bugger.

You can replace the bearings if you need to, you can also tighten the ring under the swash plate, it may have worked loose. I will have a look next time I see you.

Life is like a bath, the longer you stay in it the more wrinkled you get.

GREAT weekend guys! Thanks to all in Hamilton for hosting. GREAT weather, great company and awesome flying. Ahhh, FF's - what fun.

The K3D is going VERY well now. Fast becoming one of my favourite helis. Joy to fly and goes where you point it. Have been beating it pretty hard since I got it and NO slop anywhere that I can detect. Had to wind back the Cyclics to 6deg, the bugger was scaring me at 8. LOL.

Anyway, until next time....burn lots of fuel! Winter is no excuse not to fly, especially with this weather!!!
