Rumble prize pool
Guys,

The prize pool is growing daily. Latest edition is vouchers totalling $750 of Flight Experience 737 Sim time redeemable at the Botany Auckland franchise

Bad news is there's no such thing as a free lunch and there is a compulsory entry fee of a beer for the Instructor - oh wait - that's me

Cheers,

Steve.

Fair deal - in fact I'll buy you 3 beers , then we'll try the sim again - "double or quits" this time

Hi Glenn,

I hear that just about any over 40 yr old male, with RSI (or the new politically correct term 'OOS' ) with a Woolworths bladder and poor eyesight can fly them these days

After all it's the computers that do all the work isn't it, and the pilots just drink coffee and talk dirty to the hostees???

Cheers,

Steve

Ummm...we have to turn it on and off and put those flappy things up and down....and dangle the dunlops as well. And visual approaches...they are just plain dangerous...taking the AP out and hand flying...thats just crazy talk right there.

Ah yes I suppose there'd be a bloody sexual harassment claim these days, followed by a 'process' and all that other good PC stuff.

Geez you can't even ask a girlie out now without risking being called a perv (he says whilst wearing a plastic raincoat with a pocketful of boiled sweeties )

Can I do orbits of Sky City like I do in the 172 at 1000ft
Please Please Please.

On the lighter side. As you know I am working thru our "Event Risk Mangement Plan" with about 10 organisations for the Rumble.

Yesterday I got asked if our toilet facilities coped with the disabled ? (its a portaloo in the middle of a frigging paddock)

Not related to helis but I just had to send some stuff back to China today. The main part of the address was:

Ho Lik Centre

Just about pissed myself when I read it out loud. LOL.

That cracks me up Neil....LOL. In this day and age we have to be sympathetic to everyone. Could we please have a portaloo with drive on access for wheelchairs, a mosque like exterior incase any muslims want to pray with a sign pointing to mecca and it must have one of those auto seat lowering mechanisms for women. I'd like to have a drive through in case I get hungry during a dump. It should be positioned with feng shui to satisfy any asians and not be painted brown so maoris are not offended by it's colour. If we could have an attendant to aid in wiping our bottoms as we may have fuel all over our hands. If you could see to all of this everyone may be happy but some group somewhere will still be offended.
Ho Lik Centre
Yes I saw these all over the place up there. One that springs to mind is the Fook yu building in Mongkok...kowloon, Hong Kong.
They crack me up with the fact that they translate Japanese into English and do such a $hit job of it....can't they get someone that knows english to translate things?
I have seen so much stuff like this kind of thing in asian shops....
May you have pleasure at the aerial device for your flying high hericopter. Warning...not operate when pregant or mensturating. Prease do not touch hericopter with go fast blades or an arm may have bad damage and be lost. etc etc....

Wings over Wairarapa
Neil, Don't forget the traffic management plan, and the evacuation procedure plan, and the hazardous goods handling procedure (lots of dangerous methanol at the heli event!), and the "Politically correct don't pull the childs arm as he is about to go into a rotor blade at 2000rpm as that is bad parenting" plan, and the Department of Internal Affairs rules and regulations for raffles (phew we just scrape in as we haven't quite got $25k of prizes), and the Public Liability Insurance, and the list goes on.... Isn't there a new Minister for anti-redtape now that we got rid of Auntie Helen??

Anyone going to Wings over Wairarapa this weekend? I'm down there with a couple of the jet lads and we are flying during the lunch break. Should be a blast although Sunday weather is a bit dicey at this stage.

Steve.

On a serious note, there has to be a Traffic Management plan written for the council, worse it has to be written by an Engineer not us.

Hopefully I have found someone to do it for us for free (I have offered him free entry to the event and his name on the sponsor list)

As I said to you the other day in 10 years it will be impossible to run events like the Waitangi Rumble and invite the public because of the stupid red tape.

So guys .... make the most of this one !

Good grief. This is typical of this namby pamby nanny state we live in created for us by incompetent morons that used to be in power. Designed by idiots for idiots and to save the rest of us from the morons of the world. It should be a self culling proceedure....let the idiots fall so the rest of us don't have to suffer the indignity fo being treated like babies.
Did anyone see the silly NZ movie about the vodka swilling stuntman where the OSH dickhead was running beside the stuntcar blowing his whistle and yelling to the driver "not over 5 mph!" approaching a jump ramp. Silly I know. It wouldn't surprise me if we had anti fun police at an event one day with his stupid red reflective vest and flashing red light on his hat standing right beside a heli looking at it and blowing his whistle yelling DANGER DANGER...this thing could hurt you (ya think?)....stand back 1/2 a mile. I'd take off and run into the prick.

So now we need to have some person design how we are going to drive into the paddock? Better make sure there are no off cambers...that could be real dangerous. Councils are a money making entity...nothing more.

Agreed. And guess what, I bet in 5 years time there will be NO events like Big Boys Toys for example. The compliance costs will be too great and forget about having helis flying there, OSH will have a heart attack. Oh well, fun while it lasted. Thanks for the legacy Uncle Helen - NOT.

On a positive note, the IDIOTIC piece of legislation that Labour was touting that would Ban Radar Detectors in NZ has been shelved by National. One small victory for Civil Liberties at least. They were trying to shunt it through by attaching it to a bunch of other road rule changes. Bloody effing Labour!
