Bad cooling on Evo 90?
How do you guys think the cooling is for the Evo 90? i Just think that my engine runs to hot all the time and i cant get rid of it, even if i turn the main needles out it doesnt seems to make the engine run cooler.

Are there any modifications you can do on the cooling system to make it better? I was thinking of maybe cover the underside of the Air channel with some kind of plastic cover, and i think that will be better for the cooling system. Have anybody tried that?

You can always add a shield to improve cooling ,although I have not run into any cooling problems on the EVo 90. Where are you checking your temp and how hot does it get? What engine and fuel are you using?
I would look for other problems such as a restricted fuel system, holes in the fuel tubing, soggy clunk line, or dirt in the carb. If you go past factory needle settings and there is no change, there is a fuel system problem. Hope this helps

No, not any problems
Been flying Freyas in some way for 4 years now without any heatproblems.
Think this is even the first time I ever heard someone mention it.

'Hm now I just have to find out where to connect the GV1 sensor to the Jazz80 ESC.

We have several EVO 90s flying out here in the high desert; we usually fly when temps are 109+ with no issues.

If you are having overheating issues, you may have some other problems.

Is that a 6s 5000 in your pocket,
or are you just happy to see me?

im using the os 91 szh ps, with 17 aerosave oil and 17 nitro. And I have a temp guage that often read around 135-140 degrese celsius on the highest temp. It is measured under the top of the head, it is a onboard temp guage. The heli was fitted with a fuel magnet wich seems in good chape.

I now have the high needle at around 2.5 turns out, the middle at around 0.5 turns out, and the low around 20 degrees lean.

And even if i change the high needle to 3-3,5 turns out i dont see any difference in smoke or temp, the engine dont seems to respond to the needles somehow. im very confused here!

Can it be that the fuel magnet cant deliver the proper fuel flow? The magnet has a grey color.

The engine runs very good thou, and the only problem is that it runs very hot, and i cant get it down. I have changed the clunk line and all other fuel lines so there are no leak in them. The only thing i have to change now i think is the fuel magnet, to see if that change anything, otherwise i have no clue what i could do?

What clunk do you recommend using on the evo 90? It must be pretty heavy i think because of the chape of the fuel tank?

Ths std/supplied clunk works just fine. Ive used it in all my Freyas, with BlackHayes249 clunktubing.

Sounds like something is strange if the engine isnt responding to needlechanges?!

Wiseguy,
You can check my gallery for ideas on making your cooling shroud. Although your problem might be contributed from other factor, I think a good cooling system always makes everything else runs smoother. Just a note, my shroud is made for Webra 91i P5 gasoline engine. For now, my shroud seems to help a lot. I'll post the dimension later if you're interested.
