Oh my!

This is gonna be a long one folks, so bare with me!

I bought a Blade CP Pro a few days ago, and it arrived last night. I charged up the batts, and followed the instructions. Easy as putting in the batteries for the TX, and putting velcro on the lipo, installing the lipo and im off! I did some base level checkups (being the middle of the night), such as swashplate movements, tail power/control, and training wheel install. Everything was so simple.. even charging the (once feared by me) lipo batteries.

This morning i finally got to fly. It was dead calm outside, but a bit hot. (102 degrees).

Spooled up... played with the controls abit while it was light on the skids... held my breath and gave it just a tad collective. Up it went.. and thats where it stayed.

Holy smokes.. this heli flies great! Right out of the freakin box.. and im flying like a pro! (exaggerated a bit.. but i felt like a champ out there). Here is the rundown.

Battery 1: 22.3 mins but mostly not in air (light on the skids the whole time).

Battery 2: 18.0 mins flat. Almost stationary hover, with a few mods done to the gain for the tail with no result. Also have cannopy installed.

Battery 3: 16.4 mins. Totally stationary, never touched the ground. It was a bit hairy at times... but it flew the whole duration none the less.

No bad for a newbie! I have flown a raptor .30, and a .50. The problem is with those, is that the down time is so great. I would fly for 15 mins or so, and spend the rest of the day doing somethign else. I was NOT learning... atleast noticibly. So i bought countless micro and mini size helis in hopes of getting some stick time. It was worse.

This little guy flies so well... it flies better than any heli i have flown. Period. Electric... nitro... sim... doesn't matter. This thing is freakin awesome.

I love the way it flies... right out of the box. Symmetrical wood blades... 800mah lipoly... training gear... and stock tx batts.

Only complaint?

The tail is a horror... but to be honest... i kind of like it that way. A heading hold gyro would make this thing super sweet.

I really have no fear in upgrading parts to metal on this bird.. this thing is so smooth... i really do not forsee me crashign this bird all to often.

around 60 mins total of airtime (all in a row, after parts cooldown), and not a single scuffed blade... tail blade... nothin.

Although.. i did take out a 4 inch long blue tail dragon fly. He got to curious i suspect, and found himself caught in the down draft. That sucker was the size of a piccoZ heli. haha. Reminded me of that now famous "my piccoz flies circles around the blade cp" video. haha.

Final thoughts? Buy this damn heli! I have never... NEVER.. had so much fun flying in my short lived heli life. And that is after 1 1/2 years of "hiatus", also!

I am keeping a detailed... detailed... flight log. :-D

Tell us about your first CP Pro flight! :-P Also.. post those pics!

I have said it before on here, I came from Nitro and I got tired of all the tweeking and cleaning. I got out of the helis for years ......tried the Blade cp... first day I was hooked on electric!! I did not have the pro so I had to upgrade to lipo and sym blades.

I get more time on the stik and less time messing around, like fixing clutch and engines and cleaning.

I can fly loops, rolls and enverted hover with this little monster and if If I do mess up it at most costs $25.00 maybe.
I have a Trex Se and before I try any new moves on it I always try it on the Blade first it is a really nice flying machine for the price!!!

My only problem is i only have 2 lipos and 1 charger, and that really limits my flight time. And im only getting maybe 10minutes on each 800mah lipo

I REALLY wanna do that, but there are no wall chargers for it. It is tedious to have to buy a big battery just to charge the little ones. and how do you charge the big battery? with a car charger? if i go to the thunderpower site and order it, will the connectors all fit on the CP Pro or does it need to be modified?

Thunder Power Battery 1320 mAh 3-Cell 11.1v LIPO - $54.95 - SHOP.COM

these 11.1V ones?

sorry for all the questions

Another option for a tight budget. Go to Common Sense rc and look at their budget packs. I had some I use in my foamies and they work just fine. 3 cell Lithium Polymer 800mAh battery pack. 8C continuous discharge rate of 6.4 amps with 9.6 amp bursts. At 2 for $27.50 not a bad deal. Just flying around and hovering they never get hot. Didn't time them. Not as good as TP but cheaper so you can get more packs.

Wow, thats a great story and flying experience. Really good to hear that someone else has done what I am about to do myself.

Got a Blade CP last summer, needed patience but got a Raptor 50 to fly outside, down the road from you in San Antonio. You know we have breezes so sometimes bigger the bird the better to learn?

Now learning the Raptor 50, but got a Blade CX for at home and limited inside. Having so much fun I wanted another bigger electric and missed my Blade CP.

I just ordered a new Blade CP PRO package with the G90 gyro to heading hold. Hoping to get here early next week.

So keep us posted how your progress goes and what you find and like!

Compare to how much money I needed to fly a helicopter which was alot more then the blade cp. I love my blades cp. There easy to fly and easy to repair and no complaints here. Where can you fly a helicopter for 220.00 out of the box with minor adjustments in some case's. I'm sold Jimmi

Thanks for the post! I have been contemplating another heli myself as well and the BCP pro looks like the one. I have a fp Corona, Raptor 30, BCX, ECO (never built/flown) and some Corona-like fp's. I want to go cp and this looks like the fastest, cheapest way to do it and you get a 3d heli to boot! You said the e-tail was bad? how so? I had a HB v2 and it sucked big time...I'm very wary of e-tails now...

I love this thing, it flies great and stays on the ground just long enough to recharge. Only thing i would change are the servos, and i probably will as soon as the next cheapo e-flight one blows out. Here are some pics of mine, hope you guys don't get annoyed with me. I put quite a few in there.

P.S. Has anyone put a scale fuselage on their blade yet?? Please send pics if so. I'm really wanting the airwolf with retracts....

Thanks for the compliment, but don't worry i've crashed it a few times just like everyone else. Luckily, it's easy and inexpensive to fix. Some of the pics are from the first day i had it with the woodies, and the others are from this past weekend. I put the carbon blades on and the aluminum swashplate, everything else is stock. Great heli! Hmmm, little red light says my battery is charged...See you guys later.....
