Have you called him and asked?

I have seen the V3 in the web-shop.

I 2 was looking for a V3 - I was told the recall affected all V3's - so if Rick had them I am guessing he also sent them back.

Hmmm....
I'm using a V3 now on my Spectra. My two complaints with it are a) it seems to spray more oil on itself (explain later) and b) there is a pinhole in the front seam that is leaking oil with every flight.

As far as spraying itself, call me crazy but the V2 never seemed to do this. I come back from every flight and there is oil all around the rear of the muffler exit/back cone piece. I don't particularly remember the V2 to spray on itself as much. Maybe something with the way the exhaust comes out?

Anyway, not a big deal but what's the scoop with the recall? Could it be bad soldering jobs causing the leak I am experiencing? I'll have to call Century tomorrow to see what's up...

Raja,

WELD LOOK TERRIBLE ON MINE!!!!

Although I'm used to criticise Boeing 60 year old welders on their wonderful 0.050'' Inconel job...

Do you ever sleep... or do you have a computer embedded in you brain -)

Just installed your generator/alternator and it fit like a glove into Intrepid frames with Raptor mount (I forgot was it Raptor mount you sent me?). Had to drill two holes (one per side) and Dremel the start shaft by 17mm. It looks VERY pretty....Thanks!

Are you an EE? I'm an AE and love the simplicity of your "Jewel"!

The welds on mine aren't all that great either but they are sealed.

Raja, I also get a little oil spray on mine. Not much though, only a few spots and it is the same with my Hatori. I thought it was a gasser thing and attributed it to running at 32:1. I switched brands of oil and cut back to 40:1 last time out and it was much cleaner.

Got the recall info from Century direct - apparently its with the outer coating - and does not affect the use of the pipe. I'm sure the Century reps can chime in on this.

the definative WORD
The issue with the v.3 muffler was that we found out on some of the mufflers, there were small pin holes. These pin holes either leak a very small amount of exhaust (not enough to cause any problems) or they're only cosmetic. It wasn't a recall. We looked at our current stock and examined all of them for leaks. Sent the ones back that had any signs of leaks and sold the ones that didn't have leaks. Currently the problematic ones are/were being re-worked and I believe they're already on the way back to us. I'm not sure when we're going to get the new batch but if their muffler is in fact leaking large amounts of exhaust, oil, etc... that is actually affecting the performance of the muffler, then it does fall under a warranty claim.
That should clear up any questions.

That's it then
I've got that famous pinhole. Now I want a new one as I don't want a hole in mine. It should be warranty weather its a large leak or a small leak. Now the pain is to get it taken off, sent back, and waiting for another? I think I'd like them to send me one, and then I'll send this one back. After all, its not my problem so why inconvenience me without a muffler while I wait for a replacement? I'll call today and see what they will do for me.

Heavy_Iron: Glad to hear the generator fit well!! It was a Predator mount actually. Let me know how you like it once you get a chance to fly it some

Nothing in stock
I called Century today, spoke with Ron. Told him I had a pinhole in my muffler and he was not aware of any issues with them. Said I would have to send it back RMA and then when they get it they will inspect it and send out a new one if they decide to do so. He wouldn't send me a replacement before I sent mine back, so I have to be out of commission for a good three weeks -- I'm on the east coast so 1 week to get there, 1 week back, and some to process.

I had him check stock to see if he had any and he discovered there were none in stock and they were all marked "bad". He didn't know what the scoop was but I guess it had to do with the pinhole thing.

So meanwhile "its a small price to pay" having the leak to be able to fly until they get some in stock.
