Put 'er in knife edge today =D
Unfortunatley, I lost orientation today, and was only 2 feet off the ground when it happened, and here is the result.
Broken frame
broken bottom plastic tray,
alu landing gear and skids
mainshaft
feathering shaft
325 pro woodies
tail belt,
hacker motor all chewed up
flybar bent to smitherines
Bent a few linkage rods
Did in my rotor head hub/block

Managed to save :
servos
gyro
tail servo
Entire tail assembly (including carbom boom and fins)
maingear
receiver
all the aluminum bits besides the rotor hub.
Not a scratch on the battery.

As you can see, a complete rebuild is in order. Really tore it up today!
I got some video footage and photos of WASP and I flying to post after I edit the video. Back in a while
oh, and it's nothing.. she'll be repaired and doin tic tocs again tomorrow

That's the way to do it man. If you're going to do it, do it right.

Sorry about the damage.

I don't lose orientation often.
Today I was working on my loooooow inverted forward stuff. I can do it backwards, but inverted forward is still on the sluggish side. I was sideways inverted going too slow and playing with aileron.. and one right tap on the aileron tilted it, then I accidentally kept going right, and in she went fro 2-3 feet up sideways. Really did a number on it!
Funny thing is, the maingear came out in perfect condition..

Nope. If it is salvagable, it will be re-used.
I know the fan on the hacker is crunched in and will probably be removed so it doesn't throw plastic when I'm flying

Here is all the damage, not including the hacker motor or blades..
About $100 crash atleast

Good thing I didn't have my KOK's on! Only broke some woodies.
Think I may have also bent up the tail shaft.
Had to operate for a half hour to get the flybar out!

lucky that your gyro wasn't decapitated w/ the flybar being mangled like thatIf at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.

Dang, I too am surprised that your gyro survived. If I were you, I'd add one of the under boom gyro mounts onto your Modefo's order.

Nah, I like to run em on top so I can be sure my gyro proporly initialized upon power up. I don't fly till I see a RED SOLID LIGHT coming from my gyro. I don't flip it over to look either with a full powered heli in my hands.

I strap in a lipo..
turn on the TX. Set my timer to 5 minutes, plug in the lipo (and get my hands off it as quickly as possible so the gyro initializes steadily),
Load the canopy, look for a gyro light confirmation, press start on my timer, hit idle and GO! the heli is never in my hands with the ESC wires connected to the motor under power. Only in the house, I disconnect the motor wires for pitch settings etc.

Not sure why, I just prefer it on top
Only had a problem on top with a 401 on a hornet in a crash once. chipped the corner of the 401, but it still worked fine.

bent by a hair. It already had a hair of a bend in it in the first place.. so I'm sure I worsened it. any type of slight error in the headblock and you get vibes. I had the tiniest vibe at spool up on this head before it crashed, so I figure this crash probably made it worse since the way it went in. ordered a new one so I don't get any vibrations. Can never be too safe or preventative with heli's =)
oh yeah, and vibrations are BAD!

Found one of my batteries to be dead today. The same lipo that was from this crash last week. Went to plug it in today, and a tab was broken off the actual lipo cell. It still charged and balanced, but it won't work through the deans connector.
Rack the cost up $80 from wherever it was! Something like $200 that crash!
That was my worst one in a while.

Is it possible that the aluminum skids caused more damage than they saved (frames and plastic plate)???

That was about the 10th time those skids have been crashed, and the first time they broke a frame.
