Trex 600 servos and gyro?
Hi, bought a Trex 600 AL at Sheldon's for 430$. I think that was a great deal. Looking at the manual there are no recommendations, does it take standard size Futaba 9252 servos like my Raptor 50? Is it worth the money for Futaba 611 gyro, I have 3 401's and I like them but maybe it would be good to have a 611... I'm just starting to fly backward and upside down now. Thanks

Congrats on your new T-Rex!

9252s should be ok.

As for the gyro, "Should" you get a 611 or "can" you get a 611? You'll be served quite well with a 401 in a 50 sized heli for most flying including 3D. Since you have so many 401s, I'd recommend you use those and save your money for batteries. If you have the means and want the 611, then by all means, buy a 611. Nothing in this hobby is "essential". Spend to what you're comfortable with.

Um, thanks Doc but I'm not really asking for financial advice, my 401's are in other heli's. A better question would have been "do you think I would notice the difference between a 401 and a 611?"

At your current level of flying, you probably will not feel the difference. My 611 on my Stratus does not feel significantly different than my 401 in my TRex 600. I am doing loops, rolls, some inverted flight. I have seen a good buddy of mine fly his Raptor 50 with a 401 gyro doing a lot of tail-intensive maneuvers and inverted flight without gyro problems. The 611 will be great on a TRex 600 but I'm not sure if, at your level, that you may feel it.

I also thought you had 3 401s laying around. If money is no object, get the 611 and rest assured that there is no doubt that you have a quality gyro on it. Personally, I think it might be a little overkill. Granted, there are people running the 611 on their TRex 600s and will swear by it.

I am using Hitec's 6635 ($40) and CSM 560/9254. Comparable results to 9252 and 611 for about half of the price! It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.
