Blade CP Belt Done, Pics Inside
Well if you ever wanted to bling/upgrade your Blade here is what the final look would look like...Took about 12 hours to build this thing, but in the end she sure does look pertty and man the head speed is much much greater then the blade. Like to thank heli direct for their support.

FYI the motor wires are hanging cause I have to setup my throttle / pitch curves and then give her a maiden hover

Well heres some things as your putting together....On the videos he talks about a phillips head screw on the bottom of the pulleys, its still a allen wrench screw just short...

The main gear connects on top of the lil tail gear, heres is my FYI, tighten down one allen screw, then take a drem, and drill a little on the other side of main shaft threw the lil tail gear then put in allen screw, and repeat for other side, mine is slipping, and I hopefully can fix it.

My tail doesn't have enough power to over power the counter torque of the main blades, i'm assuming my tail gear was slipping because it wasn't against the main shaft hard enough.

Ummm other than that she goes together just like the videos. I also replaced the fins with TREX fins and also the tail blades with TREX tail blades.

Let me know how urs goes and if you have questions, i've been working with Steve and hes been real nice so hopefully he'll help me get mine in the air.

Are you talking about the big pully for the belt which is on the main shaft? I had trouble with it slipping too. You need to find a good wrench, hope your grub screws aren't stripped, and slowly tighten the two screws on either side a little at a time switching back and forth. Use threadlock. I haven't had a problem with mine slipping since I've done that.

One annoying thing is even though that pully is tightened evenly onto my shaft, it's easy to see it wasn't drilled at 90 degrees so there's a wobble. Others have confirmed this on their HDX300s as well. This is pretty unacceptable workmanship... It doesn't affect flight much, but probably makes the belt drive just a little more inefficient sapping away precious energy.

Have you tried reducing pitch and increasing HS like I mentioned in my PM? I've noticed even with a solid working tail, you have to run relatively low pitch to not lose the tail. I have HUGE throws on my tail with the highest tail rotor speed pully too...

Sho,
Thats exactly the problem i'm having...Well first the tail wasn't holding against the torque of main rotor...So I switched to trex tail blades, still nothing, then all of a sudden the tail just stopped, soooo i'm wondering you think it was slipping the whole time?

Anyway, i'm going to drill some divets in the main shaft with each side holding until i drill whole and re put in grub screw, see if that holds.

please help, I don't wnt to give on this heli, the head speed is AMAZINGGG such potential.

Also I put head speed up to 100% and still the same problem,,,,I noticed once i switched to trex tail blades I could see the gain was actually working as the heli started snapping, I set gain lower and tail stopped, sooo I'm wondering if the tail was always slipping which is reason my tail couldn't counter react the torque of main blades..

What you think?

The main pully is slipping when you get to high speeds. If you have the 8T tail pully and are running max head speed, the tail WILL hold. Try turning the 32T pully on the main shaft by hand while keeping the shaft still. This should not be able to turn even ifyou try hard. The idea with the divots sounds good. Just make sure you align your set screws to go into them. Also make sure your belt tension is high enough so the tail will not slip.

Basically, you should be able to move the main rotor, hold your tail rotor stationary, and the tail should not slip without a lot of force. If it slips easily, you need to fix whatever's allowing it to slip. G'luck.

Slippage seems to be a theme in HDX-300 parts. I got the CNC head for the CP and slippage and wobble were always an issue. Just lastnight I drilled out a hole in my main shaft, cut slits in the rotor hub on each side of where the main shaft slides in and reblaced the grub screws with a bolt. I'm still tinkering with the wobble as the bold is not perfectly symetrical in weight but the slipping is completely gone and the wobble is dramatically reduced. Not sure how difficult it would be but you might want to either file flat spots down for the grub screws to grab something or get out the teensy drill bit and a press and put a hole through the main shaft so there will be no question of slipping. I reccomend a 3/64th bit and a lot of patience and carefull attention to getting it centered. Now that I think about it it might be good enough to just get a hole big enough for a shear pin and let the grub screws just hold the vertical slip. The only thing necessary for Evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

Well, the tail pulley is the one slipping....I am thinking at first the tail didn't have enough umfff to hold, but then after spooling a few times and while the main gear was spinning the tail just completely stopped so I'm thinking maybe it was always slipping...So I will have to get out the dremel, I need a charger for it lol, and put some indents on the main shaft to get those grub screws to hold...THen fire it back up and see what happens.

Other than this its completely ULTRAAAA smooth no other slippage in the head or nothing.

Hmmm I am not too pleased with the sound of this..

For that kind of money I would have thought it was better designed.

Maybe I should just send it back.

It truely is an exceptinal heli. Sure, it has a few bugs to be worked out ; mainly the main shaft pully. Other than that, with a little knowledge of helis one can work everything else can be easily adjusted. Undoubtedly, this helis is a bit pricy if one is starting from scratch, but if you have the bcp head, servos, reciever, and gyro, it is pretty affordable.

I thought this came with the head...

The site looks like it does..

Yes I have the "extras" and want to make a heli that is same size as blade cp and just "works". I am tired of fighting the blade cp tail motor.

So the HDX300 looks like a very good option. I dont have a drill press, or tapper, etc to do those types of adjustments.

So this is scaring me somewhat
