450XL cde or wait for 450SA?
I'm busting at the seams here.

Seeing as Horizon Hobby has put off the 450 SA until Mid October, I don't know if I should just go get a 450XL right now. I have already waited a month for the SA. I am flying a Raptor 30V2, so I have my heli fix, but I want the TREX to practice 3D stuff.

I don't want to flip the coin for an SE, and I already have a good motor and a CC-35 just waiting for the heli.

Is the SA going to be that much better? I know that there are concerns for the direct servo set-up in a crash, and the SA and SE will break the servos much easier as well. I will eventually want to do some 3D flying after it gets sorted out. Are there any real shortcomings of the 450XL, or will it be fine for quite a while?

Thanks.

have you seen the carbon fiber XL hotheli.com sells? it's the same price as the SA is supposed to be. it's essentially an XL with carbon fiber frames and the SE swash. i don't see it on the site, but if you call them i think you can get the SE's white canopy & gray skids.if it ain't broke, break it.

Hi All,

Hey that carbon fiber XL looks like a great deal. That has direct ccpm? That alone would be a great improvement.

Wish I had seen this before I bought my CDE, which I upgraded to the SE V2 Frame, I still have the plastic head. 199.99 is a great price.

dang!

Cheers,
Leslie

I would buy the XL I have over 100+ battery packs on mine and still looks and flies like new.. It's your money.. Oh,,, I don't like carbon frames they are glitch magnets and cut servo wires..
There is nothing a good pilot can't do with a SE that he can't do with a XL...Some say plastic will not last,, oh,, I have over 100 battery packs on my stock XL.!!!It's up to you. Just make sure you put good parts on it and it will do anything you want it tooooooo.

**Now doing Forward Flight And EASY 3d! And having a Ball !!**

i agree the XL is just as capable as the SE. but, the direct connection to the swash is so much easier to deal with.

a good PCM receiver or DX makes the carbons nice to fly with, too. i don't have any spread spectrum RXs yet...but, i'm drooling all over that new module to plug into my existing radio.
if it ain't broke, break it.
