Any reason a fast climbout can reduce tail authority?
About 4 minutes into a flight, I did a fast climbout and the tail on my rex seemed much less responsive and fearing lose of control I landed. After taking up again tail authority returned and I got another 3 or 4 minutes. I'm running a hds877 on the tail with a gy401. Is it the huge current draw creates a momentary loss of power?

Its amazing how many amps the tail will draw when loaded up with this in mind if you are overloading the head on climbout and the li-po you are using is not up to the job then the tail will suffer.

Also check the belt tension and the gear mesh this can also rob power from the head and tail
The world is round you can run but you will always end up where you started from

Thanks Steph. I'll check the belt tension and gear mesh. I was running on a Apex 2100mah 15C pack. I guess 20C would steer me clear of this problem, but for now I'll take it easy on climbouts. There is no royal road to flying helis but the sim sure helps!

if your motor bogs on climbout then your HS is going down which in turn is slowing down your TS which makes your gyro work harder which would then cause you to lose tail authority.

just one possible cause.
