What speeds are you running your SZH at ?
Hi,
Just curious as to what what RPM your running the 91 szh at and what combo your using.

I have a Fury with 8.18 gearing and MP2 pipe (CY30 fuel)
I was running this at 15000rpm but it came alive when i increased it to 15250rpm,
Makes me wonder if i can find any more power by going up some more rpm..
Not sure whether the MP2 the right choice but its seems happy at the moment, maybe the SB18 would be even better?

Is anybody running any higher than this (suposidly safe upto 16000?)

nice paint,

but, just doing the maths that means your running your sz's at over 16000,
in the case of 8.45 thats 16400rpm!
im not surprized it sounded like it was screaming

Interesting though, and thats what you found by trial and error to work best.

The SZ will run at the higher RPM. I certainly would not use 8.45, but 8.18, 8.08, 7.92 all work well when running the head speed at 1900 or more.
The Curtis pipe just does not like the higher RPM. He is working on a new pipe for this rpm, but it may be a few months out. The motor just does not produce power at these RPM with the Curtis pipe. You either need to stay with the lower RPM, or switch to the Hatori pipe (expensive.) The Hatori pipe will let the engine breathe at these RPM and will get some good performance out of the engine.

Hi

I am flying with SZH Hyper and MP2 at 15300 engine RPM and it works fantastic! I advise you to try that.

SZ PS w/ 16 thou shims + Viperhead + Hatori SB18 on CP30% w/ Enya 3 plugs

1950 @ 8.25 g/r = 16088
1900 @ 8.27 g/r = 15713

Working very well.

Standard SZ using, 0.016 shims on 30%, I am using the hatori 970 tuned pipe running 15,750 @ 8.27 in a Raptor 90SE and works very well.

I'm running 8.18 at 1930 head. That's about 15,750. I didn't see any real results until switching to the Hatori SB-18SZ The motor seems really happy and the heli's got some jump. I'd like to try 8.36 if I can find the time to set it up.

Makes me wonder if 8.45 would be a better choice for this engine in an MA machine (or others), obviously making its power / tourque at a higher RPM than a YS91
This would get the headspeed down to around the 1850 area.
Spinning the blades faster is just wasting horsepower?

I tried 836 very early on with the SZ in my Fury last January. Same exact thinking. The engine just didnt pull as well at the higher gearing. I went back to the 818 at a higher headspeed.
