Avoid videocamcorder to self switch off / RC filming skills / Electronics
Hi guys!,

Gosh!, I haven't had the chance to come to rundyder for a while, so busy at work here in Bristol....

Sorry this question is not very related to aerials but it is to electronics and filming so if you don't mind keep reading....

The challenge is to film one of the more difficult bears in the world (spectacle bear), the only way to film them is disappearing from the place....
So I want to set up a video camera trap to film them, the idea would be to leave the camera out there for a couple of days (I was thinking on the Sony TRV900 or 950 but I would be happy to use a different camera if is 3CCD or great quality), once the camera is out there I will send the signal 200 metres away through a cable where I will be watching all what happens and recording when something is going on.

I need some advice in some technical aspects if someone knows:

1.- This camcorders they self switch off every 10 minutes or so if you leave them, do you know any way to avoid that?
2.- Any ideas of a pan-tilt platform that would work with this camera and can be controlled from 200 metres away?
3.- How can I zoom in and out and record if I am 200 metres away from the camera and can't see it?, can I buy a cable and a connexion to do that or so?.

Well guys thanks for your help on this, my producer has put me in a bit of trouble with all of this but I know you are "the guys", looking forward to hear from you,

Angel

For TRV900 switching off this might help
http://www.bealecorner.com/trv900/dvfaq.html#shutoff
And lots of futher tips tricks/ forum for the TRV900 on the same site.
How can I zoom in and out and record if I am 200 metres away from the camera and can't see it?, can I buy a cable and a connexion to do that or so?.
There is a IR remote control with the TRV900 that include these funtions.
You could contact http://www.hexpertsystems.com/prism/index.html and see if they can set up their Prism to work with this camera
