The first start..
Having enjoyed over 20 years of flying glow and electric I have recently bought a gas machine – partly because of the success of you guys here.

Its almost built and I’m not far off starting the engine for the first. It’s a kit used by others in my club and I’m convinced that I have the right fuel mixture and local support.

I intend to fire up without the rotor head the first time to so that I can get used to the starting procedure with the choke and finding the right idle position etc.

My question is: typically what should I expect the very first time I pull on the starter cord in earnest?

It’s the Hirobo Bell 47 with a 24cc TAS engine – I know not everyone here likes it but I’ve seen several with success – just curious what the typical first time is like.

Regards John

Providing everything is set right, you can expect a nice little idle out of the gasser. Nothing different from your glow realy, they just sound awsome and have a far mor reliable idle. I would not run it long without any blades, just start it, when you are confident it is all sweet and no surprises then put the blades on and load it up a little.
You will love it
