Ha...ha, I thought you were joking.

Cool, good to see. Post lots of pictures. I'm really jealous because I can't even get my Tiger flying. No fault of the Tiger's just me not having the parts/time to work on it.

Cheers, Shayne

Yes that is a little rust. Here in Arizona we are in the middle of our monsoon season so it's pretty humid here right now and my house has an evaporative cooler, not air conditioning so that dumps even more moisture into the house. So during this time of year none of my cabinet doors close worth a damn and things rust pretty quick if not protected by a light coat of oil.

Driven tail...
Hey will that be available as a mod on the Tiger 50? That would just about complete the Tiger.

Later...

He must have got ahold of enough of the Pantera prototype pieces to put one together.
You can tell from the ruff finish on the plastic that it is not one of the finished products.
Hopefully some of the rusty metal items will be SUS in kits for sale.

Actually, I believe that is the finished product. From what I gathered last time I spoke with John Beech, he had a couple kits(which I'm assuming were the final production models) for a privy few to do some reviews on. I myself was actually offered one. The finish you see looks like a finished texture. If you look at the Pantera pics on the Audacity website, the prototype frames have a machined look to them, unlike the one here.

To address the rust issue again. I spoke to John today about it and he says the shaft that I have is not a production model. He says the shafts included in the kit will have a black oxide finish and will resist rust quite well.

Jim has one because behind the scenes he's sweated blood working with me on some software issues, he's been a good friend. Al was offered one because he's the fellow who came up with the winning decal design a few months back. As a general rule, I never bite the hands that feeds me and I always remember my friends.

As for the little bit of rust on the main shaft, Jim explained why, but for what it's worth, the regular production shafts are black oxide coated - just as they are on the Tiger 50 - otherwise these are production models. Finally, folks haven't generally complained about quality issues with our products in the past, I don't expect they will have much reason to start in the future.

It looks good John. I think the finish isn't truly represented by the photos. It seems the photos really magnify the plastic and the harsh light of the flash doesn't help. I've seen the same thing on anything that's black and plastic when you take a picture of it close up with a flash or lots of lighting. Any speck of dust or dirt seems to stand out ten fold.

Thanks for posting the photos Jim. Let's see it fly now.

Cheers, Shayne

Hey perfesser zero,

The split gear tail drive option for the Tiger 50 is a little bit expensive - part number AUD22601, Pantera 50, $369.99

Here is a link to the Pantera Manual that I have been using to assemle mine.
It is a work in progress (beta) manual and it is subject to change but it should give you a good idea on how it goes together.

The elevator arm assembly looks different than the tiger 50. Does it tighten over the shaft going to the elevator arm or does it have a pin through it ? It looks like it will get rid of the flex on the tiger one (which was not a problem) Just alittle longer and I will have my own soon. SWEET !!!

Unfortunately I won't be flying my Pantera this weekend.
With other commitments around the house, specifically doing the single Dad thing, I didn't have enough time to get my Pantera into the air. I do have some more pictures of the build though.

John,Jim,Al,
I in no way ment to sound negitive in my post. I think it is great that you were able to get a pantera to thoes that were instremental in helping on the project. I just think that if one member is thinking it, then there are probally several others thinking it. I like you John sometime just speek what I am thinking. Everyone has been waiting a very long time for the Pantera release. I am sure that everyone will like the product just as most everyone liked the origional Tiger. I as many others are patiently waition for the ship to come in so that everyone will be able to enjoy the new Pantera. I think that you are being very generous to get pre-production models to thoes that have helped you. This is only good business.LOL

Sincerely,
Perry
