Three of us flew the T Rex over the winterm then some FF this summer.

I've flown planks, and I mean real Planky Planks, like a Smog Hog for you older guys, and they picked up flying foamies and small electrics like they had done it for years.

Heli flying taught them a lot.

Most of the AMA folks fly the 3D hover stuff and have no interest in helis at all.

My Balsa USA Stick 40 I built twenty or so years ago still flies regularly in the evenings with the other guys and my heli gets flown in the AM for me.

I've flown planks for ~25 years, new to heli and loving it!
I have an electric foamie based on an Extra 300 that I love to fly and do 3D with, it's really relaxing! plus crash cost is ~nil! Usually a bad crash (broken fuselage) is fixed with 5-min epoxy and then it's fly time again. I use it mainly to chill down and get in "the zone". THEN I fly my choppahs (Blade CP, Rexy XL, Eco-8(sold now), and hopefully (parts on order) my brand new Evo 50 )

Yep, been flying planks since '72 & I have 18 from small electrics to 1/4 scale. I always take a plank and heli to the club and fly both. BUT, I am getting more into helis and fly my T-Rex SE after work whenever possible. I am going to sell off some of the planks to make room for more helis, but I have plans for at least another 2 planks in the next year, so they will always be around! Planks are great for relaxation, Helis are great for challenge and adventure!!Rob.
