Voltage of a lead battery...
Hey what's the voltage of a fully charged 12v lead battery? I just went out to fly my Raven and it couldn't crank it over. I couldn't tell if the engine was flooded or my battery was just weak. Hopefully it's just my battery. Thanks in advance!

I believe the open circuit at full charge is 12.6 - 12.8 volts.

Did you remove the glow plug? If it couldn't crank it over with the glow plug removed, it needs to be either chucked (environmentally friendly way) or recharged!

I've just measured the 19Ah sealed motorcycle battery that I use. It reads 12.8V at zero load a few days after a full charge.

Usually if the heli engine won't turn over the engine is flooded with fuel or some oil. If you remove the plug and crank in the usual way you will soon find out if your starter is giving some torque. If it won't turn over after clearing the flood and replacing the plug, then the battery must be damaged (shorted or low voltage cells) or the starter is damaged (shorted winding or brushes not contacting or shorting).

Battery Voltage
One of my batteries has this on the side.
Deep cycle charging 14.4-14.7 volts
standby charging 13.5-13.8 volts
Those specs are for charging. Usually after the battery "settles" the voltage will go down to about 13 volts(that's what my current fully charged battery is at now).
But it should be usable anywhere down to about 10-11 volts anything below that and it might not A)have enough rpm's to start your engine or B) enough torque to turn over the engine.

The voltage of a fully charged 12V lead acid battery at standard temperature with the surface charge removed, i.e. after sitting after charging, is 12.65 volts.
