First Flight!!! HDX300 With DX6
After all the time and money spent on this build, it all paid off today.
there is still a lot to work out with radio set up and fine tuning the heli but for the first flight it was vary nice.

What don't you like about the hitec servos?

The HS-55s are surely better than the S75s - And the HS-50 might favor a slop mod performed on it but it's one of few (sub)micro servos fast enough to properly control a tail rotor.

You could try Futaba 3108s/3110s in place of the HS-55s and a JR SM8 for the tail - But it's the same servo as the HS-50 with maybe some electronic differences (possibly faster).

The only digital micro servo really suitable is the HDS-877 which seems to give mixed results - I favored a slop modded SM8 to it for my Hornet tail.

Make sure all your linkages, bell cranks, and pitch sliders etc are operating smoothly and freely before connecting them to the servos - During and after connecting the servos make sure everything is reasonably orthogonal and theres no stalling/binding anywhere.

Only knock I have on the HS50 is it snaps together. I put a wrap of tape on mine and have no problems. The 55's seem to be good servos. I use them in my small helis and planes. I even used 3 - 55's on the cyclic of my TRex CDE.

Right - I forgot that I use a zip-tie to hold my HS-50/SM8 together - I just see it as part of the servo anymore - Heh.

Here is my beef with ALL sub micro servos,, ((the plastic case))
I have had some real bad luck with the cases of these servos. one thing that i do not like about the hs50 is that the case does snap together, not a big deal its an easy fix. one of my 55 just stopped working out of the blue (before the heli got of the ground)

anyone know of a good metal gear servo that might have a better case???
