bk117 replacement motor.
i have a bk117 fuse/schluter with xcell fury extreme mechanics, i purchased this heli with a ys80, but when i got the heli it turn out to be a ys61, bought form ' videodc 'he passed away(rip). i tryied it out with the ys61, it was almost 3/4 or little pass it get to hover, to hover around it was abit slow and full thorttle, it has 600mm blades. so i was thinking what would be a good replacement, i have a ys80, ys91, os 91/c-spec pumped, or a webra p75/aar, so i thought i ask you guys for more input. will the webra p75 be sufficient or need to go higher, really want to stay away from having to change the gearing. not too sure if the webra p75 needed gearing change from the ys61, so watcha think guys?... thanks,

couple pics in my gallery.

same fuselage with gmp based mechanics. os 61 and 600mm blades. flies like a scalded dog. if that motor isnt worn out, then maybe your throttle and pitch curves may be off. i'd double check that.

I fly mine with Schluter Champion mechanics and the Schluter 4blade head with a Super Tigre 61 on 10% nitro fuel. No rocket ship for sure but more than adequate for scale and would even loop if i wanted to. ( i don't). Your model may be overweight too, so check that, either a heavy paint job or repairs from crash damage etc.
Good luck, I have been flying mine for more than 12 happy years.

PS standard gearing was 10:1 with the Champion, you may be overgeared with the extreme mechanics but I don't know your ratios.

well, the motor is fine, pitch, etc.. i guess i might be expecting too much from a scale, being used to a pod and boom. i am 3000ft above sea level and high desert dry, might have to fiddle with the needles which i have not done, and also what pitch range are these scales should be at? nothing changed since i got it from dave.(videodc) thanks for your assurance.

bk117 with gmp cobra mechanics? wow i am impressed, looks great, i have couple of those sitting around, but never thought they would be mechanical good for a fuse. and since i have a hirobo shark sitting around, hmmmm and idea just pop up...

ps. thats some real nice paint job, may i asked is it airbrush? with what type of paint auto, or waterbase(autoair)? thanks,

oh yeah, the gmp mechs were ideal for scale then and only limited to n parts availability keep them from being ideal now. anyway, the frames are basically the only thing stock gmp legend. the rotorhead is a raptor 30, so is the main drive gear, it happens to be the same dia. as the old gmp style which is next to impossible to find now. the belt taildrive has been converted to a shaft output with a flex cable running tothe xcell tailrotor gearbox on top of the fin. the cable has century couplers used to attatch everything with t/r output shafts from the hawk sport. the t/r takeoff fromthe main gear is an old schluter tailrotor gearbox with t/r output shafts from the hawk as well. ccpm mixing for control, a hawk sprt swashplate and the clutch and fan sysyem is from a predator. it all just seem to fall into place
the paint scheme is now different as the paints were no longer available and since the last crash required a lot of glasswork in the repairs, i had to sand quite a bit away. anyway, it was all done from a rattlecan using the tamiya colors for cars, then cleared with 21st century clear.
the new paintscheme is also from cans using the rustoleum colors.

bk117
nice.. but for me, i would definitly go over the heli, but i didn't change it since the former owner flew it, and he sent me pics with the heli flying decently high prior to me getting it, would you guess the fiberglass fuse weight might be a little more than enough for the y61?
