What gyro gain do you recommend?
I know this is kinda a beginner question, but i was just wondering because i crashed the other day, and now when i do loops and tic tocs, the tail drifts off

i dont think anything is wrong with the gyro, but i was just wondering

i think i am just a touch above 50% with avcs on

what would a gain of about 30-35% do?

thanks for your help

What gyro are you using now? What radio are you using now? No point in getting a remote gain gyro is your radio will not support it. None the less i would go with a gy401, and futaba 9650 servo for the tail. It looks like you already had a 240 or a 401 though.
Just my 2 cents.

sorry i didnt add that earlier

i am running a 240 gyro, with a hitec electron 6 and a cheap hs 81 in the tail and an optic 6

i didnt get the 401 because i wasnt ready for that expensive of a gyro at the time, but when i get the trex 600 and i am going 401 digital

i am just wondering if i can make the 240 with hs 81 sufficient ( the hs 81 is fast enough i think)

I would think that the HS-81 should be ok with the 240. However i would get rid of the electron 6. I have a friend that was had one and was having all kind of glitching problems until he totaled his heli and had to get a new receiver because the crash was so bad he broke it in half.

Unless you are already having trouble with the electron, I wouldn't replace it. I have 70 flights with mine and had only a couple glitches.

I have run the Hitec 7 channel QPCM receiver with an Optic 6 for 6 months now without a single glitch....ever. Come to think of it, I really don't know what a glitch is. This bird is a XL CPM and not a carbon SE. Seems the carbon in the frame is a bigger glitch culprit than the electron.

I have to crank up my gain to 80% with a 401/9650 to get the tail to lock but I am also running slow down gears. Ultimately, you keep increasing the gain until you hit that sweet spot between bouncing on stops and tail wagging. I dumped my 240 for a 401 as I feel safe in saying its the industry standard. That means the price helps support the industry. A 240 is adequate for a Trex but the 401 has two nice features if you are willing to make the change. First, it will allow you remote gain adjustments during setup and testing. Second, it has a digital interface with the servo. In this game what's 35 bucks to upgrade?

What you have is 100% more efficient compare to mine. Iam only using a Telebee Gyro w/Futaba S3107 on my tail, just fine tune your set-up , play w/different servo horns (tall/short), check for bindings, subtrims etc.

When I started I can only get 50% gain because of the wag am having but after doing multiple rebuilds and some minor modifications I can now get 70% and 75% max Gain w/out any wags, but I decided to stay at 58% gain because at 75% my trex is like a robot turning everythime i hit the rudder.
