You hear that Century? What is up with your inventory?

I've been looking for one now for close to a month. No avail. I want to buy one without the engine though... Does anyone know what's going on with them? Did they simply change the outsourced manufacturer, or decide to make them one by one in their warehouse?

That's too bad...
Didn't know century was having issues putting kits together...I bought a clutch for some guy to flip the torrington bearing for him. Came yesterday with a little ding in it. Not a problem performance wise, but I didn't expect to see a ding in a new clutch out of a package...

Yeah, it's a real shame. Wanting a Predator vs. Spectra was just a personal preference. That's spectra is beginning to look really good by now... I am still exploring the BME 90 option though....

Of course, it will have your ingenious generator install in it when I get it!

OK Century, what's the excuss this time. Still moving your factory? The ship sank? You never got the call? It's always something. Will you guys ever get your act together.
I don't know about you guys, but, I'm sick of hearing about century's non-existant customer service and lack of kits and parts.

O.M.G. That's hysterical! They left out the skid? How did they miss that inconspicuous small item? Maybe they thought the condor used retractable landing gears

I had been trying to get my hands on a predator prior to going with the BME .90. I'm glad Century is so ****ed up right now and was unable to supply me with one. I love my BME .90 conversion, and parts for the Raptor are available, and cheap. If century does eventually get on the ball, I will consider buying one. My only complaint about my current BME .90 Gasser is the physical size of the helicopter. If someone finds a few of them, let me know. I've tried to buy a couple of them used, but everyone wants to sell them with their electronics. I have a hard enough time buying used stuff for the simple reason that it is used. I don't think I can bring myself to buying used electronics, unless I get them for next to nothing, and they will be sold.

Just got my Predator / it's being shipped today via UPS
By chance, just ran into an eBay auction on a brand new Carbon Predator with all the upgrades. Never flown, never crashed. It includes:

Carbon Predator SE (New)
Zenoah Z231 (New) (I plan on sending it to Toxic Al for the mods)
JR 9303 w/ servos (New)
GY611 (New)
Batteries w/ upgrades batteries (New)

All wrapped up in a nice crate for $1800.

I've noticed that most of the bidders were from this forum. But, this is first and only gasser, and you guys have plenty!

Please look forward to a new thread "Dumb Predator Build Question from a Noob"

Asong26,
Didn’t you start out NOT wanting an engine with your kit? Would you have gotten the kit right away if you bought the engine with it? Word for the wise … Please don’t start blasting Century and then expect to get top notch service in the future. One person I know has done that and it didn’t work out to well for him. He could have sold you his but continues to hang on to it. That should tell you something.

Understanding economics 101: It is easy to get parts for something you don’t want but difficult to get parts for something everybody wants. That is just the way it works.

If you go down the Century bashing road you may not end up enjoying your first and only gasser.

Century is well represented on this forum as is some other manufacturers. You wanted a Predator because it is a nice helicopter. You will gain nothing by publicly blasting any represented manufacturer on this forum. It is always good to learn from the mistakes of others.

I've always wanted a century. I believe it's THE best gasser out there. My first gasser research started out with Century. Recently, I've explored other options because Century was so difficult to get. It was a shame for a company this size to abruptly swap out their supply chain without having back up plans for replenishment. I have in no way bashed them regarding their products or quality. I am still convinced that I've made the right decision. And if Century would potentially filter out their customers because they've complained about a supply issue, then there's BIG problem. You should NEVER discriminate revenue.

I am simply expressing my frustration with their "lack" of supply. That's all. And I am well aware of the 'well representation' of century on these forums. This is why I've started this thread in the first place. I wanted to have a forum where people can come and share their demand. Through my experience for the last month, I hope to give Century a another window into their customer's frustration and loyalty to their products. In addition, Century should leverage these supply shortage complaints to incorporate in their future planning process.

Economics 101: Accurate Demand Forecasting w/ solid supplier base will make or break a company. While you are suffering from shortages, your competitors will eat the marketshare. And by the time manufacturing ramps up, the demand is already saturated, where you will end up sitting on your inventory.

I am really going to love this bird. And if I sense that Century is purposely holding back parts based on the frustration level of a customer, then I am sure they will continue to hear about this.

Another point of clarification:

I've initialy wated the kit w/ the engine. But because I didn't want the Spectra, or the Begen, I wanted to get the Century Kit without the engine. Because my research throughout these forums, I've learned that while some people were having great luck with the stock, or Hanson modded engine, some people were not. And I did not want to take a chance of this bird coming down due to vibration related damage to the head or the boom side.

This is how my search initially began for a kit with out an engine. Due to lack of supply from Century, I started looking into other models where I may be able to fit a gasser (Zenoah, Webra, BME). After learning that it is very difficult process, I almost gave up the gasser idea as a whole, looking into the potential of buying an AVANT Aurora. Today when I saw this deal on eBay, I jumped on it. It was a great deal, and I plan on taking the engine out immediatley and send it to Toxic Al.

If I wasn't convinced that the predator was the absolute best choice for the gasser, then I would not have even expressed this frustration. I would've simply bought something else.

Anyway, I am really looking forward to getting this bird to fly. I can't wait.

Thank you Shuji-san

I am very much looking forward to this fine machine.

Question for everyone:

According to Rudy2, the gasser that I am getting is over 6 months old. It is a Predator Carbon Gasser. I am planning on getting some additional upgrades to keep it current. Does anyone on this forum know if anything has changed in parts during the last 6 months to a year?

thx
