swift transmision gear to soft
The transmision belt gear wore out all its teeth and destroyed my swift in a horrific crash, also destroying my 250.00$ battery
anyone else have premature wearing with this gear?

Mines been fine and I think I'm running more power through it than 99% of people.
Don't suppose you were the running the mesh a bit tight ?
That'll over heat the gear and soften it.

was it the front belt gear or pulley, or the rear pulley? did it melt or just wear down? If the belt is too loose it oculd rub the boom and cause excessive friction and heat... or I wonder if one of the bearings were failing and causing friction... Let us know if you find the root cause...........

ok I found out what caused two crashes, Tail Pitch Slider

"also have a witness that seen it happen that I met here on runryder"
This has happened twice causing a crash both times..
And no damage to the boom or blades..
Both times 1 tail blade was disconnected at the crash scene
and the Tail Pitch Slider ball loop joint was cracked.
I lost control of the tail both times and it violently swung back and forth. I was thinking it was the gear which is worn but not enough to lose full control..
I am losing interest in this swift if this keeps happening I am gunna.........

and I was not doing any 3d both times..

What really sucks is century gives me no upgrade options so I can swap this out with a better and stronger alternative.
I am not taking a third chance..

If you compare the swift tail slider with any other electric heli of this size, the swift looks weak and thin with little amount of meat on the tips "swift slider looks like a humming bird part :/" 200.00 crash repair plus 250.00 for battery, damn almost enough for the Trex-600

the ball links indeed are a "weak" link...I reported this in early jan...and the reason I kept drumming to the same beat when it came to a CNC tail gear assembly.

Finally "they" say it will be out in Dec...thats another 3 months from now.

AAgh yes! I broke that part during assembly. It's easily the weakest link in the chain. In the meantime, see if the shaft diameter and ball link diameter are the same as another unit, and just use a slider from another manufacturer.. I might do the same if you find one that works. That's a cheap fix instead of flying in fear. or trashing the whole model...........

When my first one broke...I cut both ball links off and screwed in a couple from my trex which were beefier...once I broke those off I broke down and purchased a new one again...its still a weak link unless it has been upgraded since.

Can{t find photo of when I did this...but you get the idea.

Please let me know what you find out on part inter-changabiity. If I crash my Swift from tail blowing I may not have the money to fix it. Preventative action may be my only hope!

Parts are on the way, I did call century and he said they will fit..They have never tested it, but he said allot of parts for century helies are interchangeable..
thier answer was to much gain could cause over stress on that piece
If thats the cause then all newbies are screwed :P

I think this should work great since the parts are used on the hawk and pred gassers..
Also I had a extra swift ball link and it cracked as i was inspecting it, uggg glad i didnt use that one..
I would advise not to use the default swift ones..
Im amazed people are getting more then one flight from this part before it cracks, or maybe peeps over looked it when they had crashes..... Time Bomb comes to mind.
I dont need a sig.....

I've had over 2 dozen flights and mine still look perfect. Maybe yours were from a brittle batch..

And yea, I can see how too much gain could cause a failure.. Which parts did you order?

I would also like to know which parts they said would work. Did you go w/ the purple all-in-one unit, or with the list of individual parts?

Thanks

Boy I sure hope that works upperking. I had one break before the maiden flight doing run-up tests. The new one has 13 flights on it now but I want to change it to something more robust as soon as possible. Please keep us informed.
