Setting your heli up after adding camera mount
Guys, I have a few questions. I'm getting into AP and going to use a stinger 50, a T-rex SE and someday an X-cell graphite gas I just aquired. My first question, what pitch ranges are you using for your AP ships since they really don't need to be setup for 3D? Second, do you make a lot of pitch and throttle curve changes to your machines after you add the camera mount and camera? I'm assuming there are some changes due to the additional weight. I haven't added my camera mounts to my helis yet and was wondering what everyone else was doing.

Thanks,
Dan

I've only had a camera on my Intrepid EB so I'm not sure how much you'll have to change on a smaller platform. The EB has ample power so on the rare times that I fly it without the camera I've set up the idleup1 with a slightly reduced throttle curve to keep the head speed around 1450. I left the pitch at +10/-10 just cuz it was done that way when I built it. After that, the only changes I make are at the hover curve knobs to maximize smooth flight based on current conditions.Mark Webber

My setup tips
I use a Sceadu50 for much of my AP with an underslung mount. Here is what I do different than my 3D ships.
-remove about half of the cyclic to throttle mix. I want some mix, but only enough to steady a hover, not enough to prep headspeed to pull through a hard manuever.
-soften collective around hover. I fly mid stick hover in normal mode and 3/4 hover in idle up so all my AP of course is in normal.
-adjust trim with mount attached.(try to get it balanced without trim if possible)
-depending on stability and "feel" I increase expo on all cyclic and rudder to suit my taste.
