Yeah, stupid me... of course when they write "release date: September 2006" it probably means "will certainly not be released until the 30th of september"

Technical aspects of the VBAR:

I think I got the principle of a 2D gyro/mixer

but if there isn't any flybar, which produces stability and discharge some newtons off the servo (because paddles are using relative wind created by rotor spin...)
what kind of precise, strong and durable servos are you planning to use?

Hi Comet,

That is a very good question!! I was actually thinking of using the 9650's but am not sure. I think flybar less heads dont need as much swash tilt as traditional heads so the servo arms would be shorter - giving more torque?

I was hoping that there would be a manual or description comming with the head conversion that would clarify this If anyone have some experiences to share I would be very happy!

altough this is probably truer with multi blade rotors, this is a lead

let's thank Mikado for innovating, although they don't refer too any recommanded servo for a twinblade flybarless head

less drag for sure

anyways, it should be a matter of displacement torque/holding torque ratio close to 1 for those servos

Lorents,

Do you plan on purchasing the VBAR system and the VBAR head? I was surprised to learn they are actually two separate packages.

Looks like we'll be spending $700 for this.

Yeah, I was thinking of getting the head too. Its only the center piece we need isnt it (+ a couple links and spacers)?

I haven quite decided if I will put it on the L14 or the L10 yet...

Andreas Rummer is using 9650's on his flybar less head isnt he?

I think it's more than just the yoke... Seems to be the two linkages and anti-rotation as well.

There aren't too many servo choices once you get into the top end, so it's either the 9650s or 3421.

Lorents, What are you expecting this to do that Logo 14 carbon doesn't do? Are you just interested in the technology, or do you think it will fly 3D better?Helis are Man's Defiance of the Laws of Nature - OCHC

Hi Oldbold,

Mostly I am interested in the technology, but there are some aspects to it that I really like:

- Up to 20% more power or flying times due to less drag, more reserves in autos.
- Easy to change the way it flies - increase cyclic by tweaking parameters.
- Less part count in head weighs less, looks cool and crashes will be cheaper (as long as the electronics survive)
- Slightly less maintenance.
- It will be interesting to see how it flies

I still havent decided if I should put in my L10 or 14. The 14 flies so well now that I really dont want to change it too much

What comes around goes around.

I think I read that there are two options you can choose from. One with the standard cyclic control, and the other one that also controls the tail,(no seperate gyro needed).

There are three pieces of electronics, and all three looked to be the same size each as a gyro, so in effect you would be adding the space of two more gyro's, (as in 401 futaba size).

Of coarse I can't confirm this because they aren't out yet, but I believe this is a fairly accurate description.

Lorents, I am putting mine on my logo 14 first for sure. It is my favorite heli, although the 10 carbon is a close second. Then there is my upgraded stock 10, (my beater), that will probably never see this fantastic upgrade due to price...

Can't wait to try this out though..

Edit: I think one of the pieces is also a rx integrated into the system, so If true, it may sit where your present rx sits. Hope this is a fact but still unconfirmed...
Honey, I just need this one more thing and then I'm set..
