loosing interest in Trex's :-(
Hi,

This is my third Trex, I have the original 450X which was just pants, then I got an SE which was ok but suffered with the usual glitches and motor cuts now I have an HDE which also now glitches

I'm using HS65's, 401 + HS56, Schulze rx and the Align 25A esc with the 430L as these came witt the kit. I am getting the usual motor cuts.

I would like a Kontronic esc and a new motor, but I don't want to put more money into this Trex if it's still going to glitch.

Another issue is to get any decent power I need 13t pinion which is great if you like 5 min flight and I don't I would like longer, so tried th 11t, which is ok but looses power to early but I do get a resonable flight.

I was going to try a Dragonus, but i think I will still get the glitches.

Any suggestions ???

Went through all this myself, had four 1xHDE 1XCDE 2XSE trexes and they all glitched, i managed to sort them all out using JR R77S rx's,

I totally agree about the pinnions thou.

Have to agree with colsy, pcm is definately the way to go with the trex.
Another option for longer flight times is to go with a 4s lipo setup.

R770 or synthesized R 990? is the way to go. Not one glitch or lockout in ~50 flights.

As for power, I bit the bullet and went 4s with the Neu 1107 2y and Jazz. It's a whole new ball of wax now!!! I really think you will encounter the same troubles regardless of which Heli you try. It seems you've invested alot of time and $ so far in the 'rex. I believe you are almost there as far what you want out of the 'rex.
I slowly got mine where I want, a payday at a time.

My quick recommendation.

4s lipo Tp, Fp, or Align 4s 2100 (dont' laugh it's a good batt)

1107 2y + Jazz esc

My timer is set for 9:30. I usually put back ~1400 1600maH.

Airtronics 94761z t/r servo or that Futaba one (If your tail is buggy.)

Almost forgot, I believe the 25A is very marginal for the 430L.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Heli-itis sufferer.

I had continious glitches untill I switched to the JR770 pcm and since have had perfect performance and zero lockouts.

It was money well spent and now I have a 100% bullet proof system.

Oh simon not again what you going to get this time

I always use PCM on electric helicopters because of the glitch factor

PCM dose not get rid of glitches it just hides them very well

I am using the align 25 amp esc with my comet 500 its had over 12 hours on it so far with out problems.

My trex's both use a kontronik esc 40-6-18 withthe 450th motor very nice combination.

I had a problem with glitches on my trex's se that was down to a servo problem.

Simon if i can help give me a ring the trex can be problematic with the wrong equipment

Some of the align ESC are not interferance free might be worth trying a different ESC
The world is round you can run but you will always end up where you started from

I don't think PCM hides glitching. PCM uses digital encoding techniques to enhance the signal to noise ratio therefore ensuring the Rx outputs the correct signal which may have been lost in an analogue signal if exposed in the same envirnoment. If the noise is sufficiently large both PCM and analogue signals will be knocked out as there isn't enough S/N for successful decoding.

Same goes for the 2.4GHz stuff. If there is sufficient interference that technology will be affected too.

For folks into RF the real solution is a CDMA transmission method whereby the wanted signal is extracted basically from background noise, sweet :0)

Yeah. I am about sick and tired of T-Rexes. I have been doing these since the 450X. This latest one of mine has given me the most problems and it has all the best stuff on it. I build and work on my Rex more than I fly it. With my Lepton, its put together, setup and fly. No tweaking. No worrying about it. Rex=Junk. Lepton=Awesome. LOL>hahahahah

I used a Futaba PCM rx in my SE nd it glitched more than this HDE with the Schulze rx.

Only reason I went with the Schulze is I use one in my X3D at it is fine.

Is it the crappy Align esc/motor thats the trouble ? as I said I would like to upgrade these but not if it will still glitch

Simon.

hello,
this is my experience:
After this motors: AON 3500, Align 430L, JGF 450 F, JGF 450 TH, JGF 450DH, JGF 400DH, Medusa 28-40-2500.(see my gallery)
ESC: CC 25, CC 35, Hyperion 50, Align 20 and 35

My working setting with no glitches and power enought for 3d is:

JAZZ 40-6-18 and lehner 1020/17 with 11 Tooth. 3s 2200 lipo. On microheli frame and totaly upgraded.4 Hs 56 and 401.

No other experiment work like this one.

Still want to give a try to medusa 28-40-2500 on 3s and 15 tooth, will see....

I have many other electrics: eolo, QJ-18, X-400, ms-46c, Acrobat se.

If you are tired of experiments and want something that really flies get an acrobat se from stefan plochinger, you will stop doing experiments, but probably will not enjoy your time playing with motors and rotors so much....

No glitches on my Rex, that I am aware of.

did you try and spray the belt, to stop it from building a static charge?

My Trex is fine in the hover, no glitches, tail holds well same when you fly circuits all is ok. But as soon as you start chucking it about this is when I get the motor cut's (glitches) so maybe it's the esc

I think I might try a Kontronic esc and maybe a new motor, get rid of all the Align electrics.

See how that goes, but that will be the last £££'s spent on it if it does not cure it.

I'm sure I said that when I bought mt first Trex
