I don't really understand and am completely lost - need help.
Sorry if this seems like a silly question, but we all started somewhere. I'm currently building my new Lepton EX and have no idea about the radio gear. I been flying a couple of Blade Cp's up until now which came with the radio and servo's. I have the motor, esc, 401 w/s9650 and li-po for the Lepton, and just happened to have a few S3150 digital servos around the shop that I would like to use.

My question is this, because the servo's are all digital does this mean I have to use a PCM RX such as the r146ip, r149dp, etc... and PCM radio? Hirobo suggests a PCM radio, but I can get a 9c FM heli radio cheap. My Futaba 3PK pistol radio is a FM/PCM and came with the HRS rx which they call the FM Hi-Response unit. It forced me to use the (digital only) servo's in my 1/8 MRX-4 and others. I however never got a straight answer about digital servo's in a FM/PCM radio - what you can and can't do. As I sad I'm confused and need help. SO

the 9C can transmit either FM or PCM.

w/ a bird like a Lepton, you are better off w/ PCM (the 146iP
receiver). Not a MUST but eheli's generate a lot of electrical
noise.

As per the Futaba site http://www.futaba-rc.com/radios/futj85.html (at the bottom of the page) it list both FM and PCM radio's with different product numbers. Is this because the TX is the same and only the RX changes?? I wan't to use the PCM unit as Hirobo suggests, but still wonder if you could use a FM RX such as the 148df with digital servos, or a PCM RX with non digital servos? SO

It's technically wrong to destinguish between FM and PCM since PCM IS an FM signal. The correct term for what you call FM is PPM.

And yes the transmitter is the same and switchable between PPM and PCM, the receiver is either PCM or PPM.

as noted, the only thing different between the products is the
receiver that is packed in the box.

you can use the 148DF if you want but as I indicated, the 146iP is
a better choice.
