The scoop...
Mine's been flying GREAT, sloppy links and all. Kit was complete and well presented - much MUCH better than I've come to expect from a first run kit.

I had the high RPM clutch engagement like some others have posted - took care of it the old fashion way - fixed it myself. I replaced the clutch liner with a slightly thicker one and took some material off the top of the fan hub to prevent any binding btwn the hub and the clutch shoes (not sure if this was a problem but did it anyway since I was there) - that was several gallons ago - my clutch is now perfect.

Absolutely no regrets, extremely happy to own one.

Bob

I've owned a zoom 400 on first run- took some sorting!
Trex 450 on first run- excellent apart from tail pitch slider

I've owned raptor 30,50, and 90s not on first run though

Difference is all these helis cost less than half this kit except the rappy90 so i could appreciate any faults.
This heli is supposed to be elite, maybe my expectations are too high!

The 2 electrics were rushed out for the demand a tenth of the size of the N9 and the engineering was far superior.
I'm not Alan Szabo or Curtis Youngblood in the flying department but I know engineering.
I'm not starting, I started over a week ago I'm nearly finished, nobody should defend this kit for what it is now, it will be sorted but when? Mine is - but at my expense, time and money.

It flies excellently can't fault its characteristics, its not the design that is faulty just SOME of the manufacture.
If this was a car how many of you would have been knocking at the dealers door?
Ask yourself that.

i don't know what colour the links should be so i can't say one way or another if you have 1st or 2nd batch, assuming there is a 2nd batch.

if you go and move the paddles does it not move a lot?

cheers

Ask yourselves a question are your control balls plated if they are you are lucky if they are not then you must have slop because synergy r/c have acknowledged the problem. If they aren't plated and you don't have slop youve either CA'd the links or you have left it out in the rain and the rust has taken up the gap.Quotes may have been changed for my own amusement

Serial Numbers
Synergy has come out with serial numbers for their first batch of kits. If you have one of the first batch models with these serial numbers, they claim that they can better serve you when issues come up. Which in my eyes, this means if they solve the collet issue, the sloppy links, and the other little quirks we're having in the next batch of kits, us initial batch buyers will get "upgrades" to the new improved batch. At least thats what I'm hoping. If you can't find your serial number, you can go on their website and they will assign one to you.

Droid;

I'm not "defending" this kit (or any other product for that matter), simply stating my opinion as asked by the starter of this thread.

Sorry to bust your bubble here, but the first run of anything, especially in this hobby will present issues that the first round of customers have to deal with. Perhaps unfortunately your expectations were too high.

The issues I've had with my N9 are minor compared to the "usual" stuff - just a few examples from my recent experience...

- Ergo - shearing head axle
- Vigor - seizing swashplate, severe glitching (later fixed by adding grounding strap)
- R60 v1 - too many to list including brittle t/r gears would prob
- Fury Extreme - clutch driver problems, would seize and kill motor
- Ion-X - Early "G2 yellow stripe" TP batteries would spontaneously balloon $400 per pack
- JR 8411 - would spin the pinion off the motor when used in helis
- YS80 - would die in inverted idle
- YS91 - carb barrel problems, over-sized spring clips on wrist pin would get caught up btwn piston and liner destroying motor
- 14mz - touch screen defective, random elevator glitch

The N9 costs significantly less than some of the products above, performs well and has suffered no problems on the order of magnitude of the helis listed above so in my book it deserves credit. None of the bugs I've hit has prevented me from flying the heli or changed the way I fly the heli. It also outperforms what used to be my all time favorite 3D heli which I've flown flown for years, so of course I'm going to be happy with it - it serves it's purpose.

Now if this were a car, especially a high end car I've come to expect much WORSE - and to date have not been disappointed.

how many times will you have to replace the aforementioned main and crown gear?? i know that they are kinda pricey, but due to their design, i didn't strip either in a full on crash from 1850 with a nice funky chix dance. the bevel gears in the tail seem to be sacrificial (read, easily replaced, cheap, and prevents damage to the crown) and the main gear wasn't even damaged. just something to remember when you start complaining. . .

best,

hans

"It is really funny those that spent serious $ and then state it is fine they have a huge amount of play in the control system and tail bellcrank along with some other major issues"

I think it flies fine because I am able to fly nice pirouetting loops, pirouetting funnels and pirouetting snakes with reduced pilot work load compared to some of the other hot setups I've flown recently. I also think it tracks better in big fast stuff like giant backwards inverted hurricanes and has given me the confidence to do this stuff at less than 5 feet of the deck. So I guess I think it's fine slop and all because it does what it is supposed to so and serves its purpose.

It may fly better when new, tighter links arrive and the slop is gone but the fact is that it flys fine for some of us as is right now.

Yeah at $40 the crown gear is a bit out of line, but you almost never tear up a main gear and most of the other stuff is inexpensive as promised. Would be nice to see the crown gear come down a bit .

These guys have already been blasted, over and over and over again about the same stuff. I think it's pointless to continue raising the same points until we see what the second batch brings.

BTW: aside from the hi-rpm clutch and the upper collet stuff on some models, both of which are user addressable - what are the other major issues that you refer to?

Saw About six different people flying N9 yesterday at OC Bobs
Northeast Heli Gathering. All flew great no failures no crashes,
Knock Wood. In my opinion there is room for improvement but flys
Great even with sloppy links which J&T say is being addressed
along with some of the other concerns raised. We will be informed
on Synergys web site.

It was certainly nice having Todd, Jason and Matt available to help on the Synergy Setups at the East Coast Ultimate event.

I saw at least 8 customer Synergy's that they test flew and helped work on to get them flying their best, despite Jason having the flue and being holed up in the hotel for most of the week.
