The white outer plastic seems to tear or end up with a crack...can these be continued to be used or replace when you notice it?

Use some cyno on the ends in the crack. It will help hold it together until you turn them into match-sticksPete, Trex500, Trex600E, Streched 600, DSX9, DX7, Low-volt alarms - check the gallery for my alarms

I've cut off the cracked/broken stuff, and recovered the ends with monokote. Workes really well. Just be sure to check the balance again.Rob
