Very interesting unit for expensive models
I have always been interested in how to improve on safety for scale helis. For my electonics I currently run a double receiver through an EMCOTEC DSPI Twin unit.
I recently read about a new unit from Weatronic in Germany : [url=http://www.weatronic.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=31]

This unit looks amazing :

-works with PCM (JR and Futaba)
-Includes 2 receivers and monitors for each channel the best signal.
-Has failsafe
-Can control via 10 channels 20 servos
-Each servo can have a different curve. This even the case for different servos on the same channel - up to 8 !!!This effectively replaces the JR Powerbox and similar Futaba servo matching. Very ueful for landing gears, light control etc.
-Log of evry thing going on up to 48 hours of flight (battery, servos, signal for each receiver, failsafes, etc..)
-One version comes with a GPS
-Back-up battery system.
-smart switch system.

Only thing missing for heli is direct CCPM control + phasing (to incorporate what the helitronix mixer has) for multiblades.

I plan to try on my next scale and will provide feedback.

I have no relationship with any dealer, owner of the company, employees, theirs familly, etc.....

Where does the point come when our electronics overrule and actually cause more issues than they prevent?

Just food for thought.

Jack, that is certainly good food for thought. However, IMHO, I think some of these third party products are a large step towards greater safety, not the other way around.
