Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin Killed by stingray
Ahh Crikey
I really liked his passion for animals and watching his show with my daughter.
I realize that he died doing what he loved best, but it is still very sad.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Just found this on the Australia Zoo website.
At 11am today, the 4th September 2006, Steve Irwin was fatally wounded by a stingray barb to his heart whilst filming a sequence on Batt Reef off Port Douglas for his daughter’s new TV series.
Emergency services were called from Cairns Rescue Base and met Croc One, Steve’s rescue vessel at Low Isle on the Great Barrier Reef.
The Croc One crew performed constant CPR during the thirty minute dash to Low Isle, but the medical staff pronounced Steve dead at approx. 12 noon.

His producer and closest friend, John Stainton said on Croc One today,
“The world has lost a great wildlife icon, a passionate conservationist and one of the proudest Dads on the planet. He died doing what he loves best and left this world in a happy and peaceful state of mind. Crocs Rule!”
Stabbed in the heart by a stingray barb....now thats bizarre!!

Personally I think he was a little wacked.
I expected something to happen like this-sort of like the "Grizzly Man".

Yeah... I think he pushed the limit a few too many times... Ever seen the clip of him feeding a croc while holding his baby daughter in the other hand? He caught a lot of flak for that one.

yes i agree too, but the world would be a far poorer and more boring place to live without these characters like s.irwin, v.rossi, sabazo etc!!
all pioneers push to the limits - limits that wasn't there for them to reach in the first place and aspire to - only to supercede their forefathers; these people are an inspiration to all.
full respect to fella and for those like him.

Yeah, steve did some pretty dumb things, especially when the media was around , but he also did a great deal for the native wildlife In this country and bought an awareness to many that no doubt could of had fatal results for many. He was very corney to most Aussies who would probably blush with some of his antics. But at the end of the day he was a bloody top bloke and I will miss him as he was a real Australian and I can tell you now, they are almost an extinct breed.RCrotortech Zealous Longranger, Hirobo JetRanger, Hirobo Bell 47,JR Venture 90
