Upgrade after Upgrade!!
Aftera great day of fly'n yesterday, except for the morning I started to notice a rock chewing sound comming from the tail drive gear. Not pushing my luck I'm grounding myself Today! I just ordered myself some Boca ceramic bearings, 4 of em for tail drive gear & tail case. I belive this would be a good upgrade to rid my, rock chewing noise. It was present on my XL, but not as bad as it is now.
Rather safe than sorry.
Everyone have a good flight for me today!!
Guess I'll do my "Honey Do" list & earn some brownie points!!

Ah, but his ride will glide on butter rails my friend
You can't pay enough for upgrades that are worth it. Wouldn't mind a full set of those bearings in my SE, but I would do some price searching first.

I Agree with you there. I bought a needle nose oil bottle for applying oil to my bearings in the mean time. This is a given on any regularly flown helicopter.

I installed Bocca hybrid ceramic bearings in my Trex - one of them had a couple of the balls shatter (the one in the tail). The others are still OK. This was a while ago. Now back to stock bearings in the tail and it's been OK.

Aparently your misguided $8 a Piece not for 4!!
I'd LMAO if you ordered some and only 1 came!!!!
I'm not realy happy to pay so much for bearings, but I've spent so much so far to get my rex Perfect, what's a few more bucks to make her smother than $hit!!
I've used Tri-flow on all my bearings and still decided to replace these with Better bearings!
I'm Obsesed with perfection at this point. When I spin my rotor by hand the tip of my antena whip vibrates when I hear that rock chewing sound. A bearing indeed!
I know,I need Help!!

I've been running the 'standard' Boca's on both of my Trex's ,Main & tail shafts & have been quite happy with them. With my XL I got about 40Hrs. on the main shaft bearings before replacing.
Figured the ceramic was a bit of overkill, but thats just my opinion.Any of those are better than the Align ones. Usually only got about 5Hrs on the Align bearins.
Oh, I paid about $5.00 ea for the standard Boca's @ LHS.
Tri-flow here too.

I just wanted better bearings for the tail drive system, even tho probably not a bad idea to replace them all. Just wanted to replace the hardest ones to change out!!!

If they are, not very well. use a vise to rest the block against, just wide enough to clear the bearing then use a screwdriver that fits in the bearing and apply pressure. They pop right out!

A pair of sockets also works well, using a vise.
I've used furniture clamps instead of a vise here @ home also.
C clamp in a pinch.

I ordered BOCA ceramics for the main shaft, tail drive shaft, and tail rotor shaft. Those three sets of bearing bear the brunt of the high rpm abuse. I think ceramics anywhere else on the heli would be a waste.

i am sure that complete set is a waste but i didn't want to pay a shipment from boca to europe for 6-8 bearings, i spare nothing, i have bought them in a shop with other goods in a bargain offer.

nice to have them all anyway
