I'm sure you guys have seen some crazy things happen to the helis and missing parts in flight. I'll bet you have not seen this one though

After I refueled my rappy 90se for the 3rd flight of the day, I go to put the starter wand but there is nothing to put it to.

Where did the starter coupling go? For that matter, where is my starter shaft?

I was looking directly at the top bearing on the frame where starter coupling used to be.
We all agreed that the eclip must pulled but there is no way it crept up during upright maneuver. If it was inverted, then it would have hit the rotor blade or the grip. That leaves only vertical down or up maneuver on a tail slide.

Whacky thing for sure.

Now I gotta go look for the parts and no one local seems to have all the parts needed to get the bird up for labor day flying

However, it turns out the starter coupling (bk0594) and starter shaft (bk0592) are same numbers on both raptor 30 and raptor 90. I'm going to pull one out from my raptor 50 to put in 90.

Really wierd that one mate. You would have used it to start and then fly????? So where did it go.
Also I think you surely would have noticed it or something leaving the heli.

I pulled the engine out and found the e-clip between the bell and clutch. E-clip could have been disengaged during the 2nd flight or even possibly earlier but it just did not creep up then.

During maneuvers, the heli is within 3-400ft but during fff it can go as far as 1000ft when I fly. So, if it crept up during fff, it is possible that it came out then.

It was wild looking at the empty bearing hole.

Update:

I tried to swap the starter shaft and coupling from a raptor 50 that crashed earlier. The starter shaft was cleanly severed off right at the e-clip (low side) and the part that engages in the clutch is still there.

So I still can't fly my R90.

I'll be sure to buy 2 sets of starter shaft and the coupling.

hmmm, how well was the engine aligned. Are there any signs of fractures on the clutch shoes ?
